Corona Updated to Bring Support for iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 05:12 PM PST

It’s a big day for Corona. After being updated this morning to fix the DRM issues in iBooks, Saurik just tweeted that the untether has been updated yet again, this time to resolve problems with the iPhone 4S running iOS 5.

If you’re having problems with iBooks on your jailbroken device, you can install Corona directly from Cydia. If you’ve already installed Corona, you can simply update it via Cydia and you should be good to go.

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 02:36 PM PST

There are already tons of different ways you can invoke the Twitter panel in iOS 5, and this is just one of the latest methods for doing so.

QuickTweet is a Notification Center shortcut for iOS 5 that places a quick link to the compose tweet function in the bottom left-hand corner. This could be the perfect companion to IntelliScreenX’s built-in Messages+ SMS shortcut, because it’s situated directly across from it…(...)

Apple Working on Wireless Mobile Payment System

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 01:30 PM PST

In the months leading up to Apple’s Fall iPhone announcement last year, we heard dozens of rumors that never materialized. Obviously the big one was that the handset was going to feature a major hardware redesign, but there were others.

NFC (Near Field Communications) compatibility is another rumor that never panned out. The iPhone 4S launched without any sign of NFC chipsets. But that doesn’t mean that the next iPhone won’t feature the technology…(...)

Animated Boot logos can once again be acquired on the latest iOS jailbreaks using a tool from developer iH8sn0w simply called animate fix.

For example, if you’re an iPhone 4S jailbreaker, all you have to do is download and install the animate fix package, select animated logo from the BootLogo settings panel, and restart your device.

This is a great way to add even more customization to your iDevice, as you can probably gauge from the screenshots and video…(...)

Foxconn Planning to Build Five Factories in Brazil to Keep Up With Apple Demand

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 12:30 PM PST

Apple heavily relies on Foxconn for producing its hugely popular iPhones and iPads, and the more business booms for Apple, the better Foxconn does, too.

Foxconn’s huge production facilities are apparently not quite huge enough, and now the company is looking at building a further five facilities in Brazil, with the aim of helping it to keep up with demand for Apple devices.

According to AppleInsider, the five new facilities will employ about 1,000 people each…(...)

After Being Rejected by Apple, Developers Turn to Cydia

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 12:11 PM PST

You might remember a few weeks ago when we told you about Tribute Calendar, an application that paid tribute to Steve Jobs in the form of a calendar application that had been rejected by Apple.

The developers of the app didn’t want to take “no” for an answer and did exactly what more developers should do: they turned to Cydia to release their app without the need of Apple’s benediction…(...)

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 11:46 AM PST

A couple days ago, RedSn0w was updated to fix the iBooks DRM issue where some images wouldn’t display properly, or wouldn’t even display at all. At the time, we noted that a Corona update shouldn’t be too far out.

Zeppelin: Add Custom Carrier Logos to Your Status Bar

Posted: 31 Jan 2012 11:33 AM PST

I’ve never been a huge fan of carriers advertising themselves by means of the carrier logo in my iPhone’s status bar. For that reason I usually remove them with a tweak like CleanStatus or Springtomize 2.

But Zeppelin — a new jailbreak tweak that just appeared on Cydia — has me considering carrier logos again…(...)
