ZDNet has just published an interesting report claiming that Apple, along with both RIM and Nokia, has built in backdoor iOS access for the Indian Military, leaving text messages, voice calls, and data trails completely exposed.

As you can imagine, after the recent CarrierIQ scandal, this information is making some waves around the internet. And what’s even worse, it sounds like the hidden trapdoor has been used in some not-so-kosher situations… (...)

Microsoft Looking to Bring Xbox LIVE Gaming to iOS

According to a recently-posted job listing, Microsoft is looking to port its Xbox LIVE gaming portal to iOS and other platforms. Although iOS recently received a native Xbox LIVE app, the gameplay portion has remained a WP7-only feature.

The Redmond company has been extremely active in the App Store over the last few months, releasing the aforementioned LIVE app, the popular Kinectimals game, and a SkyDrive client. And it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon…(...)

Blue Debuts New Microphones for iOS Devices

With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) taking over Las Vegas this week, we’re expecting to see an onslaught of new iOS-aimed hardware and accessories. A lot of manufacturers use the convention to show off their latest creations.

And it looks like one of those manufacturers will be Blue Microphones, the popular USB Microphone-maker. Apparently the company is looking to step outside its scope of professional desktop equipment, and venturing into iOS gear….(...)

Apple Set for Legal Battle over Book Piracy in China

As if Apple’s lawyers don’t have enough on their plate right now, it appears that they will soon be needing to hop on a plane and head to China, with a new legal bruhaha brewing.

Apple is now being asked for $1.88 million dollars, with a collection of Chinese authors claiming that 37 of their works are being distributed illegally on the iBookStore – Apple’s Kindle competitor.

As if to add insult to injury, Apple has been taking its customary 30% of all sales in the store, effectively receiving money thanks to pirated materials…(...)

iOS Developer Bypasses the App Store and Sells Games on eBay

If there was ever any proof needed that the App Store is not always laced with gold and rainbows, then this is surely it!

Disappointed with the attention that two of its games were receiving, both the paid for and free versions of Cannon Collision, LLLo Inc. has made the source code and all associated graphics available via auction using the ever popular eBay.

With the paid-for version of Cannon Collision currently retailing for a dollar, and the free version sporting ads, if anyone is looking to get their feet wet in the world of iOS games development, then this might be a place to start…(...)
