There are actually quite a few of these on the market. Most use bluetooth. Here are a few.

Just FYI, I am retired and often leave mine connected to my computer (which stays on 24 hours a day) for days at a time. I don't believe it would hurt it. At least it hasn't hurt mine.

I was told to NOT leave my MacBookPro plugged into AC all the time by the folks at Apple store. Said it shortened battery life. I don't know if that applies to desktops or not.

LiIon batteries can be plugged in all the time. In fact it's better to keep it fully charged than to completely discharge them. This includes the iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.

I use the XLink bluetooth gateway at home for the same reason. It can
pair with three different phones, and you can configure it to pass the
line # in the caller ID as well as specify which phone you want a call
to go out on via the cordless handset.

By the way, the "how it works" graphic shows the cordless phone
connected directly to the XLink. While you can do it that way, you
can also plug the XLink into a regular wall jack, with the house
phones plugged into their respective jacks. Just make sure your house
is no longer connected to the phone provider network as it provides
power as well, which could damage the XLink.

I don't reset it...if I am unlimited I should not care.

It may be something of a coincidence since I am hearing more and more people getting this "5% top user" message for December more than any other time.

Thanks

Then that 10.8GB + 2.3GB = 13.1GB should be your total consumption since you got your iPhone, which isn't much if, say, for a year. AT&T must be up to something.

Simple, AT&T sells 2 GB as the tiered data limit. Grandfathered
"unlimited" means up to 2 GB; otherwise, you are in the top 5%!!! ;)

I had unlimited until a few months ago (and rarely went over a GB) but
wanted to use an acceptable AT&T hotspot, so I now have the 4 GB/month
shared plan. How can "heavy usage" be below a hotspot enabled account?
5-6 GB/month and up sure, but under 3 GB? That is nothing more than
forcing people off their unlimited plan. They already forced users like
me for wanting to use a 3G hotspot but this stinks!

Almost every iPhone dock has a terrible radio section, regardless of manufacturer. Remember to hook up the AM loop antenna, or you won't get AM at all - the days of internal ferrite bar antennas are gone - that external thing IS the antenna and you won't get a thing on AM without it.

If you unwrap that FM wire antenna, you can overload the whole band and get images up and down it - unless you are in an isolated area.

If you have the iPhone docked while using the radio, especially AM - it will cause horrible interference. Don't do it! Undock the iPhone to use the radio.

Most radios now days - iPhone dock or not - are based on a single IC. You have a tuning capacitor (or varactor diodes for digital models), one very cheap ceramic filter IF for AM, another very cheap ceramic filter for FM - maybe a discriminator coil for FM detection depending on the chip, or a ceramic discriminator. The selectivity, therefore, will be as wide as a barn door - horrible for closely packed stations. But it will make AM stations sound great! Cheap cheap CHEAP Chinese junk! I've managed to repackage one of these horrible radios into something useful:

http://earmark.net/gesr/the_fake_sr.htm

so its not the IC that is the problem. It is the way manufacturers use them with inadequate components around them. If you like a few very strong local stations, then the cheap radios are adequate. If you are in far suburbs or rural locations, you would be better off with a separate radio like the CCradio-EP:

http://www.ccrane.com/radios/am-fm-radios/ccradio-ep.aspx

which is the real deal in terms of a usable radio in remote locations with demanding reception problems.

Docking stations? Both are presently used as clocks at my house. Once in a while a guest uses them to charge their iPhone. My daughter uses a Dr. Dre iPhone dock for sound - it doesn't even have a radio.

My wife just moved off an iphone to some other POS, now I cannot send her text messages becuase my iPhone recognizes her number as an iphone and will only send an iMessage. I have deleted her contact and added a new contact with a different name but my iphone still thinks her number is associated with an iphone. Any ideas how to reset her number on my phone so it no longer thinks she is iSmart?

Can't believe she wanted to move off the iphone, next she will be driving a Yugo!

She needs to either disable iMessage on her phone or there is a link
to tell apple to remove the # from iMessage database.

She might also be refering to a BDA, BiDirectional Amplifier.
This is different from a microcell as the BDA does not require an actual
internet connection to pass your audio.
The BDA hooks to an antenna on the roof or outside of the building,
connects to the control box, this box varies the power output on the
internal and external antenna to adjust for maximum perofrmance. From the
control box you have an internal antennas as well.
IF this is what she has then they are always band / protocol specific.
So if its CDMA, then they are usually tuned for specific frequencies for
the US and the CDMA protocol.
GSM is the same way.
iDEN as well.

Or as others have pointed out it could be a microcell.

If both users are on Verizon, and hubbys phone, Droid is getting super
coverage, and her iPhone is getting bad coverage, i would first suggest
shutting off any external factors. Shut off the thingy and see if the
signal balances out on the Droid and iPhone. Its possible its helping one
and hindering another.
Its a variable that needs to be taken out of the equasion.
Walk towards different windows in the house. Not always helpful because if
a window has tinting that can also hamper good signal as some tinting has
metals in it.
Perhaps step out the front door and see if there is a significant boost in
signal.

Sent to you by Brent via Google Reader: Sprint reportedly confirms
data throttling for 'top one percent' of abusers via Engadget by Darren
Murph on 1/5/12
So, wait -- is unlimited just unlimited, or is it "unlimited?" Let's
ask the man who spent a solid 30 seconds (and countless millions)
explaining precisely that back in March of last year... oh, wait.
Despite Sprint's claims of keeping its "unlimited" plans "truly
unlimited," it seems that there is a special asterisk reserved for
those who really attempt to push the boundaries. No real surprise,
honestly, but CEO Dan Hesse was quoted earlier today as saying the
following in regard to heavy data users: "For those that want to abuse
it, we can knock them off." Moreover, he affirmed that throttling can
be implemented for "about one percent of users," but did continue to
say that there were no immediate plans for The Now Network to follow
its contemporaries into the deep, dark world of tiered data. Of course,
this is also the man who told us that "nothing is guaranteed forever,"
so make of it what you will -- particularly with an LTE network going
live in around six months.

Might as well get the story strait if our going to report.
they left out a key word. ROAMING.

*Update:* Dow Jones Newswires apparently left out a key piece of
information from Hesse's statement on throttling, in an example of truly *
stellar* journalism and attention to detail (unfortunately, we have no
audio or video record to verify Hesse's statements). Hesse was discussing
throttling of those who are on networks that Sprint has* roaming
agreements*with (which, admittedly, Sprint has
* a lot* of - including with Verizon). While this still makes Sprint's ads
technically misleading, the throttling really only applies to those who
live in areas where Sprint's data network relies chiefly on roaming - not
to those using primarily Sprint towers.
So for now everything is back to normal.
