Is this when you play music from iTunes or are you streaming music or radio over cellular data?

If you are streaming, that may be the cause of the static.

When you play music from iTunes, and the iPhone is near a radio, you will hear static when the phone checks for the nearest cell tower.

What do you have a Mac or a PC, it make a difference and there might be different steps.

If you have a Mac, get an app like PhoneView from ecamm.com to copy over whatever you don't have on your computer.

I assume that your iTunes library is still intact, and so you music is still on the computer. Any new music you purchased on the iPhone since the crash will need to be moved over.

Contacts, notes & calendar can sync with your computer, did you set this up?

iTunes does not copy photos to the computer, so make sure you have a copy on your computer.

Next take notes of what is on your old iPhone that you want on your new iPhone and where they are on your computer.

Then sync which ever iPhone you want to iTunes and just set up the which ever items you want on your phone.

If you want some of the old photos on your new phone, then you can use PhoneView to put them on the phone.

Thanks! Why didn't I think of doing that? hmmm.... probably because my brain was too sleep-dead. Maybe I've just been lucky but this kind of thing never happened before, altho there have been a few wrong numbers. My other phone says "out of area" or "unknown" when the caller has blocked their number.

I don't know yet about syncing e-mail with iTunes.
I am familiar with your purpose, though.

My approach has for long been: store the large (amount of) data at
some point in cyberspace, and just e-mail the URL of the data.
So far, I have used a dedicated subdomain of my own website, but I
might as well use services like Dropbox (the Public folder) or
SkyDrive.
I have a policy of deciding and stating an expiration date for the
URL.

In doing so, I prevent others' mailboxes from getting overloaded, and
the data from being not accessible through incompatibility of
attachment standards.
Moreover, downloading files from cyberspace (the cloud) may be more
efficient.

PS, just in case:
You wouldn't need maintaining index files for a website in order to
pass files on, as long as the URL is complete.

Here is what works for me. I plug in the iphone and start an "explorer" window. I click on the iphone on the folder side of the window and it shows the picks on "camera roll". From there you drag them to wherever you want to. I made a folder for my phone pics that has subfolders and then told the iphone where to sync pictures from on the PC. Hope that helps.

I have a Win 7 PC, when I plug in my iPhone 4s, I get a pop up Win Explorer Window. From there I can view/move/etc the pictures on my iPhone.

Skype data

My data usage went through the roof after using Skype to make a couple of short (one minute), 3G video calls. My usage is at 800 mb and I'm just one week into my billing cycle. I normally use less than that the whole month.
I noticed that I was still logged in to Skype, even though I was no longer making video calls, or any other type of call. Could this be the reason? Does Skype use data as long as you're logged in?

hiding iBooks on iTunes

I just recently got into iBooks and when I hooked my iPhone and iPad up to my deskyop I noticed that my iBooks are showing up in with my music (under purchased) and I am wondering can they not be showen there. I liked when I could just have them under the iBooks tab and go from there but I can't seem to make that happen. Any help would be great!

In the past I have taken pics with my 4S and moved them from Camera Roll to an album called Misc. From there they have shown up on my PC. I can't recall how that was done. Any help would be appreciated.

I just figures it out, so I'll share the solution with everyone that might not know.

I used "windows explorer" to do it. I plug in the iphone and started an "explorer" window. I clicked on iphone on the folder side of the explorer window and it shows the pics on "camera roll". From there you drag them to whatever folder you want to.

I made a folder for my phone pics that has subfolders and then told the iphone, (using iTunes), where to sync pictures from on the PC. I can drag pics from one folder to another and then sync.

It is really a decent camera, but still very hard to hold steady. I hope future iOS enhancements include stabilization algorithms like even cheap handheld cameras have, and low light modes like Nikon and Sony have.

1. The best image stabilization in DSLR's is built in to the expensive lens. "Sensor" stabilization reduces resolution, at least a little, and, to a degree, is already in the 4S.

2. Low-light capability depends on the (ever-improving) digital processing algorithms, but much more on the physical size of the pixel sites in the sensor. The sensor in an iPhone is severely size-restricted, and will never get a lot larger.

I'm so glad you guys brought this up. My husband is out of town and when he texted me I got the little cloud with three dots in it. Had no idea what that was and yes, it did disappear. Is this something new they have started at apple?

I gave my wife a similar, earlier model and had the same problem. I
used a dock extender, but had to remove the plastic casing to make it
fit. (I wrapped it with electrical tape to protect the electronics)

This extender from Amazon gets decent reviews, with people mentioning
that it works with an Otterbox Defender as well.
