To start the new year right two popular calendar apps, miCal for iPhone and miCal HD for iPad, will be reduced drastically in price. Celebrating its first anniversary, miCal and miCal HD are on sale till January 16th. Munich, Germany - At the beginning of a new year old calendars are being replaced with a current model. In the digital world it may be beneficial to change to the modern calendar offered by miCal. It provides many important functions that are still missing in the pre-installed iOS. miCal is the version to use for the iPhone and iPod touch and for the iPad there is miCal HD.

Both versions of miCal may be synchronized smoothly with already existing calendars such as Outlook Calendar, Google Calendar, Exchange or Facebook Events. New appointments are easily added while on the go. All entries can be provided with a from-to-time and a description. Reminders may be presented repeatedly and even an alarm can be set. Appointments are displayed in five different layouts - plus three layouts in the landscape mode. A clearly arranged list as well as a daily and yearly overview are available to the user.

A very special feature is the dashboard. With a quick glance someone will be able to obtain information regarding upcoming appointments, birthdays and even the weather forecast for the next couple of days. The dashboard also displays the date, time and day of the week.

The module "task management" may be optionally upgraded through in-app purchase ($ 0.99). It lets the user set up appointment related tasks and record a description as well as a deadline and priority. Anything that has been completed can be checked off the list. Task management is able to keep a variety of lists for either private or business use.

Version 1.5 of Mental Health Scales, an app developed by Carol Peyser, M.D. and Apps & More Software Design, Inc. to bring to the health care professional a comprehensive set of mental health rating scales on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad is now available in the iTunes App store. The new "universal" version includes an iPad-native interface, adds swipe gestures for navigation, and an additional rating scale, the PTSD Screen.

Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and Menlo Park, California - Version 1.5 of Mental Health Scales is now available in the iTunes App Store. This app, developed by Carol Peyser, M.D. and Apps & More Software Design, Inc., provides the health care professional with a comprehensive set of mental health rating scales on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The new "universal" version includes an iPad-native interface, adds swipe gestures for navigation, and an additional rating scale, the PTSD Screen.

The app now automatically determines the type of device on which it is running and presents the appropriate user interface. The simple interface and security features give the clinician the option to hand a client the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to perform a self-reporting scale while being observed.

The newly added PTSD Screen is a seven item scale employing DSM IV criteria for PTSD with demonstrated utility for screening for PTSD in a clinical and general population sample.

The existing suite of scales provided are: PHQ-9 (self-rated depression scale), GDS (geriatric depression scale - short form), GAD-7 (generalized anxiety disorder screening which can also be used to rate symptoms of anxiety in other disorders), ADHD-SRS (adult ADHD self-reporting scale), AIMS (Abnormal Involuntary Movements Scale - quick screening for tardive dyskinesia that can document absence of, progression or regression of abnormalities), and BMI (Body Mass Index Waist Circumference) for monitoring the effect of medications. These scales are well-validated and can be easily and efficiently used by physicians, nurses, therapists and others in the helping professions.

According to Don Hall, President of Apps & More, the much larger iPad screen makes it easier for individuals with co-ordination or vision problems to complete the self-reporting scales.

Dr. Peyser is a board certified Adult Psychiatrist with many years of clinical experience. In her active daily practice she provides highly individualized care for a wide variety of conditions. Most digital graphic novels are static images like their print counterparts; CIA: Operation Ajax harnesses the power of the iPad to produce a truly dynamic experience. This version features a completely redesigned user interface and sharing for Facebook, Twitter and more via SoundCloud. It is a free download from the iTunes App Store.

What's a music improvisation app? mScribble has built-in knowledge of the rules of harmony, melody and rhythm in various music styles. The user can play an infinite variety of expressive melodies while accompanied by the app by tapping and sliding over the entire touch screen. Using it, even individuals with no musical experience can create virtuoso performances.

The controls are kept to a bare minimum, allowing selection of melody sound color, accompaniment volume and music style. The music styles range from be-bop to renaissance to zombie. Each music style includes a description and example performance. One special style allows a user to create her own version of Pachelbel's Canon in three voices with the tip of her finger.

The recording feature is on by default. The app records the user's performances directly into a format that can be uploaded to SoundCloud, sent via email or downloaded to the desktop without delay.

Additionally, a special mode of play called Toddler Mode can be activated which allows the little ones to touch the app's icon and immediately begin to play without needing to navigate the user interface. Teachers of special needs kids requested a specific music style for their students. That is available as Special Kids' Mode.
