Since I'm a Mac user, here's a question for you. Does Windows have a photo manager? If so, can you plug in your iPhone and have it come up so you can either automatically or manually sync your pictures to it? The Mac has iPhoto.

I used to be a Windows user. It recognizes the iPhone as an external device in Windows Explorer. But sometimes it doesn't. I don't know if it's already fixed but I remember I used to fix the issue by force quitting the Photos app on the iPhone before plugging the cable again. Works 99.9% of the time.

On the PC the photos section of the iPhone looks like an external hard
drive. You can copy or move the photos to wherever you wish. Alternatively
iTunes will sync photos also.

Works all of the time now, as long as there are photos on the iPhone.

So on a Windows PC, drag and drop is the only way to get photos off an iPhone?

So is there something like Apples iPhoto for Windows that sees your iPhone photos and asks if they should be imported to the app?

No, iTunes will sync them to the PC. When you are looking at the iPhone in
iTunes the right most entry on the tabs is Photos. You can pick which
folders to sync there.

Now tell us how your version of iTunes can be used to transfer photos *taken with the iPhone* TO the PC.

Which is what the discussion was about.

I get static sound on my car's stereo if I connect the charger. So I have to choose whether to charge or play music.

New user coming from droid..... Help

Posted by: "chelot921" chelot921@yahoo.com   chelot921

Tue Jan 10, 2012 5:28 pm (PST)

I decide to switch from a droid to an iphone4. I have an iPad 2 so I am familiar with the apps and such. But I a few questions. I know that I may not be able to do some of these things and that's okay but it never hurts to ask. As an aside I am not comfortable jail breaking. (if these were answered recently sorry I did do a quick search of posts)

1. I use google calendar and have set it up just fine but is there a better app. I like seeing all my different color calanders and being able to set up multiple reminders?

2. Is the a way to have an agenda widget? Clock widget?

3. I like to have a variety of ringtones. Is there a easy way to do this? I undstand how to snip, copy, change file extension and save.

4. Can I change the set up? Themes?

5. Lastly, when I send a text there is a noise, similar to a whoop when I send SMS / text. How do I turn that off? I looked in settings, silenced sent message still makes sound.

TIA,
Chel

1. You can use the built in iPhone calendar and have different colors for different calendars. Here's a link how: http://thesmithfam.org/blog/2010/01/23/how-to-really-change-the-calendar-colors-on-your-iphone/

If you want to sync your Google calendars with your iPhone and have colors, here's a link: http://michaelhyatt.com/how-to-setup-google-calendar-on-your-iphone-4.html

Heres a link to make multiple reminders in Google calendars http://cybernetnews.com/create-multiple-event-reminders-in-google-calendar/

If you decide to make your calendars using the iphone calendar here's a link to making multiple calendar reminders http://www.ehow.com/how_2075787_use-iphone-calendar.html

2. There are no widgets on the iPhone. There is a reminder app you can possibly use for your agenda. Here's a link to help: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-the-iphone-4s-reminder-app.html

There is a clock in the upper right hand corner of your iPhone. You can set alarms on the clock. Here's a link: http://www.ehow.com/how_2080585_use-iphone-alarm-clock.html

3. Here's a link to using Ringtones: http://www.macstories.net/tutorials/you-have-your-iphone-4s-now-put-a-ringtone-on-it/

4. Sorry, there are no themes for the iPhone like on an Android unless you jailbreak. The best you can do is change the wallpaper. One nice wallpaper I found is the bookshelf wallpaper. You can find quite a few here: http://www.google.com/search?q=bookshelf+wallpaper+iphone+4s&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=u&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=2fcMT73UE4nhiALH7_3gAw&ved=0CD4QsAQ&biw=1024&bih=644

Here is a link to iPhone manuals. The iPhone 4s manual is on this page: http://support.apple.com/manuals/#iphone

Under Featured Manuals at this link is the iPhone iOS users manual: http://support.apple.com/manuals/

If I've missed anything, please let me know. Hope I've been helpful.

That was really good Alice. I'm saving your email for reference.

How do you sync iPhone contacts with google though?

I was wondering if there is a way to do true iCloud sync and in addition sync from iPhone to Google over the air - not with desktop.

Roger

It does on mine. In fact, it keeps downloading my long ago deleted emails from years way back and it's annoying.
Try setting up again.
