No, iTunes will sync them to the PC. When you are looking at the iPhone in
iTunes the right most entry on the tabs is Photos. You can pick which
folders to sync there.

If you want a very functional app for transferring photos from iPhone to pc wirelessly Or between iPhones and iPads wirelessly Photosync is super. You can designate a folder in which to place your photos on your pc.

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: TomTom unveils new iOS
app that uses Twitter and Facebook data as turn-by-turn navigation
source, coming Q1 via 9to5Mac by Jordan Kahn on 1/11/12

TomTom has unveiled a new version of their iPhone and iPad app at CES
2012 that utilizes data from social networks like Facebook and Twitter
to provide users with enhanced navigation to friends, places, and
events.

The press release doesn’t provide much info on exactly how TomTom is
using social network data, but claims it will become a source for
turn-by-turn navigation features baked into their current iOS apps.
TomTom will obviously have to avoid user generated data that might be
inaccurate, but it’s unclear what specific data the app will be
accessing. From the screenshots above, it appears you’ll be able to
easily navigate to friends who have recently checked-in (with their
location) to a social network.

The new app, version v1.10, will also allow you to share your
destination and ETA through email, SMS, Twitter, or Facebook. Managing
Director Consumer at TomTom Corinne Vigreux explains:

“According to recent studies, the vast majority of iPhone users use
Facebook on their iPhone. By integrating Facebook features into our
TomTom App we make navigating to places, events and seeing friends even
easier.”

TomTom expects to launch the new app during Q1 2012. The new features
will be available in a free update to users of the existing TomTom iOS
app. Full press release below:
CES preview: TomTom App for iPhone/iPad goes social
Las Vegas, Consumer Electronics Show, 10 January 2012 â€" TomTom today
previews the latest version (v1.10) of the TomTom App for iPhone and
iPad. The new version integrates TomTom navigation with Facebookâ„¢ and
Twitterâ„¢ allowing users to navigate to friends, places and events more
easily. Customers who already have the App will be able to download the
new features for free.

The TomTom App for iPhone and iPad will be the first to use social
networks as a source for turn-by-turn navigation. It can automatically
plan routes based on information from Facebook events, places and
friends. Drivers can also use the App to share their destination and
arrival time on Twitter, Facebook, by email and SMS text.

“According to recent studies, the vast majority of iPhone users use
Facebook on their iPhone” says Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director
Consumer at TomTom. “By integrating Facebook features into our TomTom
App we make navigating to places, events and seeing friends even
easier.”

The new TomTom App will be available within Q1 2012.

navigation.
Enables drivers to share their destination and arrival time on Twitter,
Facebook, by email and SMS text.
The TomTom App for iPhone/iPad already offers drivers:

The latest, most accurate maps available â€" with no need for a mobile
signal or data plan.
Free daily map changes from the TomTom community through Map Share.
Reliable arrival times at all times of day with IQ Routes.
The quickest routes through traffic, with more coverage and more

To sync google contacts you need to set it up using Microsoft exchange. Using m.google.com as server. Leave domain blank.

I don't use the desktop to sync. Since my iPad is wifi only it syncs as soon as I open calendar in a hot spot. And my phone syncs on its own (pushed?)

I've been getting that text about 4 months and cannot detect any throttling back. Some towers are slower than others and one bar of signal is slow. I move around a lot and download podcast via stitcher constantly where you can view the bar graph for download. Even after the text they download fast when in the right spot.
Usually I get the text 3 days before end of billing cycle which leads me to believe it's tied more to that but this month I got the text 10 days before end. I use 6-9 gig a month.

iPhone Battery

I have tried unsuccessfully to find this in the archives.

Here is my problem, my husband and I just moved our iPhones and my ipad2 to iCloud. Now our phones batteries drain fast even without using the phone. We both put them on the charger overnight and I have had to recharge mine twice today as the battery was at 3-5% and I had not used it!

We both have iPhone 3GS running the new iOS

Help! Please.

Thank you

What exactly did you change? iCloud itself shouldn't use much more battery
than normal - there are a few settings you can change. See what is using
the battery - look for location services (purple arrow, purple outlined
arrow, etc) and in Settings > Location Services and see what is using GPS
often and turn it off you can go even deeper in > System Services and try
turning off Setting Time Zone, Traffic, Diagnostics & Usage, etc.

The only thing in iCloud that uses battery is "Push" mail/calendar/etc - if
nothing else you can change this to Fetch in Settings > Mail, Contacts,
Calendars > Fetch New Data > Advanced > iCloud > Fetch (instead of Push).

All I did was follow the direction to move to iCloud. My ipad is unaffected. However we have gone in and turned off the location services and changed fetch to manual. I can adjust that when needed.
Thanks for the System Services tip. I went in and did that.
Thanks for your help.
We will see how things go now.

Dear Lifehacker,
What is the deal with lithium-ion batteries (the kind found in
smartphones and laptops)? I've heard lots of different things about how
to take care of them, like that they need to be kept charged between
40% and 80%, or that they should be drained completely and charged to
100%. What is the ideal approach to maintaining a good
battery-life-to-battery-health ratio? More »

using iPod function on iPhone 4.3.3

I am having trouble listening to music on my iPhone 4.3.3. I have had the iPhone for over a year, but usually use my separate iPod so I haven't listened to music on it very much, just podcasts

when I try to listen to music, the songs won't progress. The same song plays until I change it, even on a playlist or with a list of songs from an album.

Does anyone know the setting I should change? I have tried everything I can think of, but nothing works.

Thanks.

You have it set on repeat tap the circular arrows in top left below the
time in until it is white (white = not repeat, blue = repeat list, blue w/1
repeat song).

The solution is on your screen while playing the music. Tap the screen once to bring out additional options. You will see below the progress bar 3 icons. Repeat, Genius, Shuffle. You now know what to do.

Hi,

Sometimes an icon will disappear. The place seems "held" for it since the
words under it remain.
Then another time I open it up and there's the icon again.

Does anyone have any idea of the cause?
Or a way to prevent it?

Thanks!
