Battery Life greatly reduced after upgrade to 4.2.1

Hello All
Does anyone know why the Battery Life is greatly reduced after upgrade to 4.2.1 on a 3rd generation Ipod Touch.

You won't be able to view the music files on an ipod touch when connected
to computer as a disk drive. Only will be ae to view pictures store on the
divice. There a programs that will allow tout to that but the standard way
as if u connect a removable disk like a memory stick
