Entries for more than 300 common mineral species cover the vast majority of occurrences without presenting an overwhelming number of obscure species rarely encountered. The software provides hand sample photos, photomicrographs of thin sections, physical properties, crystal structure animations, optical properties, classification, and occurrence data as well as partial data for many more species, varieties, groups, sub-groups, and series.
Search for color, hardness, and streak in field and classroom uses. Use the app as a companion to a polarizing light microscope by searching for birefringence or refractive index. Identify your unknown mineral through use of any or all 54 search criteria. The comprehensive search feature allows mineral identification by using known physical properties (such as color, streak, luster etc.) or crystal and optical properties. Or, you can visually search the hand sample photos and photomicrographs using the pop-up image galleries.
This database complements the authors' textbook, "Mineralogy and Optical Mineralogy," available from the Mineralogical Society of America.

You get a black canvas where you draw with white triangles. Although the concept behind the app may seem simple, the room for creation is extensive and vast. The style is monochrome, minimalistic and retro looking.
Unlike other drawing apps that offers colors where lots of time is wasted on switching between colors, Triangle Draw switches instantly, because there are only black and white. There is no time consuming step where you have to pick the right color. This makes a short feedback cycle, which is important for the user experience, and allowing for many quick design iterations.
One of the significant changes is that the canvas area has been extended from 20x13 cells to more than 100x100 cells. The visible area can be zoomed and panned with a two finger pinch gesture. This allows users to create more detailed drawings. Also the canvas shape has changed from being rectangular to now being hexagonal. "The crazy thing about this new hexagonal canvas is that it can be rotated by 60 degrees. I have never seen this done before.", says the lead developer.
There are several other new features including the addition of PDF export, undo/redo as well as international language support. The app is designed for iOS7.

Independent game developer Mando Productions today announced that their highly anticipated title The Dead Flowers Case is now open for backing on Kickstarter. The Dead Flowers Case is set in a fantasy mechanised "Steampunk" alternate reality in which flowers and plants have long since become extinct and the world runs to (apparent) mechanical perfection. However, this precise order of things is thrown into chaos when the body of a senior employee at a car factory is found dead at his desk.
Paris, France - Independent game developer Mando Productions today announced that their highly anticipated title The Dead Flowers Case is now open for backing on Kickstarter. Mando Productions, led by the creative minds behind best-selling classic adventure game Syberia, has teamed up with acclaimed Steampunk sculptor and artist Stephane Halleux, to bring his amazing universe of characters to life in a point and click murder mystery adventure for PC, Mac and Tablets (Android and iOS). Stephane Halleux is also the creative force behind 'Mr Hublot', recently shortlisted in the Best Animated Short Film category in the 86th Academy Awards.
Backers of the project will have a chance to own bespoke items from the game including artbooks and limited edition character statues signed and authenticated by Stephane Halleux himself. They'll also have a chance to meet the artist and the game developers in Paris.
The Dead Flowers Case is set in a fantasy mechanised "Steampunk" alternate reality in which flowers and plants have long since become extinct and the world runs to (apparent) mechanical perfection. However, this precise order of things is thrown into chaos when the body of a senior employee at a car factory is found dead at his desk. The only clue to his murder are the dead flowers placed by his side. From this point, the player assumes the role of detective, exploring the game's world, questioning its strange and colourful citizens, and uncovering more clues that will eventually unravel the mystery as to who committed the terrible crime. The game's 3D characters are all fully rendered in real-time 3D by the game engine against pre-designed, highly detailed backdrops.
"The Dead Flowers Case is a humorous and visually arresting murder mystery that we're developing in the best traditions of classic point and click adventures so well-loved by fans of the genre," said Michel Bams, Co-Founder of Mando Productions. "By merging Stephan's amazing and striking visual designs with some of the best game developer talent in the business, we're confident that we're creating a unique and memorable game that will be a hit with fans of the genre. Our aim is to create a vibrant gameworld by rendering all the characters in real time 3D against the highly detailed environments."
To develop the game Mando are asking for $290,000. Donations can be made in sums ranging from $1 to $10,000 and investors will receive a range of items that includes T-shirts, soundtrack, limited edition 3D figurines, the chance to be part of the beta test and even a journey to Paris, depending on the level of investment made.

The crossword editor is easy to use. It has an intuitive user interface which makes the maximum use of the multi-touch gestures. You can easily zoom out the board to see the full picture, or zoom in and scroll the crossword board to check the details.
Clue database contains massive answers & clues from published crosswords:
The internal clue database contains 25,000 answers and 75,000 clues. It's embedded into the software, so you could use it as soon as the installation finished. You could also import your own word / clue list if you want.
Copyright information, and advanced statistics:
Title, author and copyright information could be easily accessed and modified. If available, they will be presented whenever your puzzles are shared or published.
The statistics of your crossword, including the word length distribution, letter usage, percentage of black squares, etc, are keeping up-to-date automatically.
Auto-place your own words to construct a puzzle in seconds:
By providing a word list, the app could automatically search possible arrangements to use them to construct a crossword. The possible solutions will be presented according to how many letters are shared. You could then browse between them and choose the solution you like.
Adding a picture backdrop for more fun:
On some occasions, you may want to take a picture, or import it from your photo album and set it as the background of your puzzle. All black squares will turn transparent when a background picture is set.
Sharing and printing:
There is varies ways to share your puzzle between friends. You could either export your puzzle as the filled form and let other people continue working on that, or export the unfilled version to challenging your friends. The app would export your puzzle in both PDF and image format, and they could be shared via email, iMessage, Facebook, Twitter, AirDrop, etc. with a simple touch.
If you have a printer which supports Air-Print technology, you could also print your puzzle directly from your iPhone or iPad.
