Posted: 29 Feb 2012 04:41 PM PST

It turns out that there are more things being announced at Mobile World Congress than just hundreds of new cookie-cutter Android phones, and some of them are even pretty interesting. Some of those are iPhone accessories, with one in particular catching our eye.

The AudiOffice dock from Invoxia not only looks absolutely gorgeous, but it also fulfills a real purpose, especially if you’re a business type who finds themselves tethered to their desk.

What the AudiOffice offers is actually pretty simple: it turns an iPhone or iPad into a desktop office phone, complete with corded handset and speakerphone options…(...)

After months of rumors, Apple has finally confirmed that there is a new iPad on the way. The company sent out media invitations yesterday to what we can only assume is its iPad 3 event next week in San Francisco.

At this point, you might feel like you know everything about Apple’s new tablet. The Retina display is practically a sure thing, as are improved processors and higher resolution cameras. But are you confident enough about these predictions to put money on them?(...)

Apple blocking eBooks that link to Amazon?

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 01:11 PM PST

Seth Godin is reporting that Apple is rejecting eBooks submitted to the iBookstore that contain a link to Amazon. Godin experienced the blockage first-hand, after Apple rejected his eBook for containing “multiple links to Amazon store."

The links to Amazon were found in the bibliography of his new book Stop Selling Dreams, where Godin linked to Amazon using its affiliate program, so readers could locate books he has published. These types of practices could lead to a closed eBook market…(...)

Yesterday, 9to5Mac reported that it had heard from reliable sources that Apple was on the verge of releasing a new Apple TV. The site claimed that there’s a good chance that we could see the product unveiled alongside the new iPad next week.

Unofficial factory unlock service for iPhone CutYourSim is back

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 08:49 AM PST

CutYourSim, the unofficial official service that offers permanent factory unlocks for a variety of devices, has started proposing factory unlocks for the iPhone 4S and other models.

The company gained in popularity last year when it was one of the first to offer that type of service, until Apple cracked down on them and similar services that had been flourishing all over the net, forcing them to stop their activity.

But it looks like CutYourSim figured out how to get around those restrictions, as the company announced this morning that it is now taking orders for official and permanent unlock solutions for iPhones…(...)

The BlackBerry loses another government agency to the iPhone

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 08:01 AM PST

Research In Motion is having a bit of a hard time of late. Their BlackBerry brand of smartphones are seeing slower sales than the Canadian firm is accustomed to, and the company’s PlayBook tablet is floundering at best.

Business across the globe are dropping BlackBerry as their smartphone handset and business software provider in droves, and now it appears that there is another nail being driven into the RIM coffin, with the news that The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is dropping BlackBerry in favor of the iPhone.

The ATF’s Chief Information Office claims that the agency is going to “delete the BlackBerry form the mix,” which cannot be good reading for RIM’s latest CEO…(...)
