iMessage question.

Just curious, does anyone know what the bubble with the three dots/periods after I send an iMessage and get the "delivered" message. It looks like it comes from the other party but then goes away.

Thanks.

I always thought it was the other person starting to type their response - but I could have made that up.

That bubble lets you know that the other party is in the process of typing.

Contacts list on iPhone 4s

I have many phone numbers to keep on my phone.
Is there a way to have multiple contact lists
(i.e. friends, customers)?

Or is there a way to sort the existing contact list
into groupings?

Sincerely
/blair

Go to Contacts. Upper left corner hit the groups button. There you can create or add any groups you want.

Even a little easier if you go to your desktop and sign in to your iCloud account and your can add, delete, or create contacts and contact list.

Blocked Call?

Posted by: "Martha" martha-bee@comcast.net   mamabonz

Sun Jan 8, 2012 1:24 pm (PST)

My iPhone rang at 1 a.m. this morning. The caller ID said "Blocked" but it continued to ring. There is no phone number showing at all, just "Blocked" call. I have not blocked any numbers. I don't even know how to do that. Only a very few people know my cell number.

Any explanation? I do not want any more calls like this. My son is very ill so I hesitate to turn off my phone even at night in case he is worse or needs help.

Thanks for any advice,
Martha

Blocked means they blocked their number from being sent to your phone.
Sounds like the just called the wrong number.

On my land line I pay for a service from Verizon that automatically deals with "caller ID blocked" calls. The caller gets a recorded message stating we do not accept blocked calls and inviting the caller to state who they are. If they do, then my phone rings with a special tone, and I hear the statement of who is calling before I am fully connected.

The caller can choose to NOT state their business, in which case my phone never even rings. I can choose to not accept, and just hang up.

I don't know if anything like this is available for cell phones.

This won't help with the 1am drunk dialers with blocked number, but...

I don't answer blocked or unknown calls. I silence it and let it go to voice mail, where I included a message that I don't answer blocked calls. That is about as close as I have been able to get to that service Vz landline is providing Jim.

I just wish there were an app for the iPhone like CallFilter for the Treo. I had a boss that used to call at inappropriate times for unimportant things that could be dealt with at work in the am. CallFilter would either put him through to voice mail or hang up on his calls depending upon the day of the week and the time of day. I think it also had a feature for blocked or unknown callers. But apparently, it needs access to areas that Apple holds off-limits.

Now there is an app I'd gladly pay for. You'd think that if I can block unwanted callers on a land line, Apple would be able to figure out how to do that. Actually I had the silly idea that my smarty-pants iPhone could do that and I had accidentally blocked the number that tried to call. Some drunk, no doubt. It rang so many times I thought it would have gone to voice mail like other calls I get but can't answer fast enough.

Thanks everyone for the fast and helpful responses.

Martha, A quick push of the power button will stop it from ringing. A
second quick push will send it to voice mail. I usually give the power
button 2 quick pushes and go back to bed.

A blocked call is something that someone else does on their phone.
If it were a wrong number, which is what I usually get in the
middle of the night, there is nothing that you can do about it.

Addition of Contacts on iPhone - Sync w/Outlook

I have my iPhone4 set up to sync with Outlook for Mail, Notes, Contacts & Calendar. When I add a contact on my iPhone it does not get added to my Outlook contacts. This has probably been going on for awhile, but I just noticed the problem. How can I solve my dilemma?

I am running my iPhone in to an auxiliary jack on the radio. At times there is a lot of static and crackling. It can be so loud that it drowns out the music. Sometimes it will go away if i change the volume of the iPhone. I have tried it on two different radios and used two different cords.

Any suggestions?

Upgrading to a 4S...need help please

Hi All

I am upgrading from my 3GS to a 4S.
Now I have a couple of issues that I need help with
Firstly, how can I get everything from my 3GS to the new phone, without
losing anything.
I cannot go through Itunes and sync, because my computer crashed a couple
of months ago and now I get a message saying my phone is linked to another itunes
library and it will erase all my music if I sync.
I have heaps of music that I do not want to lose.
I can get all my photos off easy...
But what about contacts, notes, etc.

Thanks
Jenny
