Monochrome gives you precise control over the conversion process and applied effects, so you can create a consistent-looking set of output images. Monochrome is an application for converting batches of color images to grayscale, giving you control over the conversion process and applied effects, so you can create a consistent-looking set of output images. The 2.0.1 update was re-engineered from the ground-up providing faster GPU-based image rendering, additional conversion methods, 30 New image effects, and New options for previewing, printing and sharing images.
"Monochrome has been completely re-engineered to be a faster and more efficient way for professionals and amateurs to process large batches of images," says einstein's legacy Chief Product Officer Douglas A. Welton. "We also added New printing, sharing and slide show features that make Monochrome a great tool for exploring image processing possibilities interactively."
Monochrome 2.0.1 includes the following key features:
* Improved Conversion (New):
Monochrome gives you the option to convert images using either an RGB or HSL-based color mixer, simple or advanced selective color desaturation, or monotone color re-mapping. All rendering is handled by the GPU to ensure fast, effective processing.
* Batch Processing (New):
Monochrome exports converted images using a background task. This allows you to continue other activities without waiting for the image processing to finish. Use the Activity Monitor to track the progress of your exports.
* Image Previews (New):
Monochrome features six modes for viewing images: original image, the converted image, two overlay modes showing both the original and converted image in the same location, and two stacked modes showing the original and converted images side-by-side.
* Sharing (New):
Monochrome can share converted images via e-mail, using popular internet services (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.) or with local applications like iPhoto or Aperture. Also, you can drag'n'drop or cut'n'paste the preview image to other applications.
* Printing (New):
Monochrome provides three templates for printing your images: one image per page, an image grid contact sheet, or image slices. Print operations can also be saved as PDF files.
* Slide Shows (New):
Monochrome dynamically creates a slide show from the converted images in your project. Slide shows display full screen and can be navigated manually or as a timed slide show.
* Image Effects (New):
The rendering pipeline now includes thirty New effects, such as edge burning, X-rays, motion blurring and pixelation. For efficiency, these effects are rendered on the GPU.
* Single Window User Interface (New):
Monochrome operations have been consolidated into a single window, giving you an easy and effective tool for manipulating your images.

Asian Local Search App Zodio adds Hotel Bookings by HotelsCombined - Published on 03/24/14

Local search app Zodio now allows for hotel price comparison within their iPhone app powered by the HotelsCombined aggregation platform. In addition to searching for hotels, browsing ratings and reading reviews, users can now check rates and availability, as well as complete their booking, directly within the app. Zodio enables its users to find cool, new and trending places around them such as restaurants, bars, shops, spas, as well as checking-in and so much more.
Bangkok, Thailand - Local search app Zodio now allows for hotel price comparison within their iPhone app powered by the HotelsCombined aggregation platform. In addition to searching for hotels, browsing ratings and reading reviews, users can now check rates and availability directly within the app. All hotel pages on Zodio will show a "Book Now" button, which allows users to then complete their booking with one of a number of major travel websites including Expedia, Hotels.com, Venere, Laterooms, EasyToBook and many more. The feature is currently only available in the iPhone app with future integration into other platforms dependent on user feedback.

With Dial+, users can program their devices to speed dial specific phone numbers in their Contact List. To save a phone number to the Speed Dial, users tap on the Speed dial star in the bottom left corner of the app. Users tap on an available slot to select the phone number they wish to save. In the basic free version of the app, there are 5 available slots that can be filled with phone numbers. If the user buys a skin, they have 99 speed dials they can utilize.
Dial+ allows users to quickly and conveniently search contact lists by name or phone number. To search for a phone number, users enter in the name or telephone number of the person they wish to call. After entering in two digits of a phone number, Dial+ will show the names and numbers of potential matches at the top of the screen. To select the correct name, users can swipe left or right to review all names. Once they have chosen the person they would like to call, users simply press the Call button.
Another feature of Dial+ is the ability to purchase and set skins. In the newest version of the app, Dial+ offers users 3 basic backgrounds to choose from. Dial+ has also added several more skins available for in-app purchase. Users can choose an image from their Photo Library to set as the background image on their phone. They also have the option to change the color of the keypad or number buttons on the interface.

Plantific Ocean - from the mind of a 9 year old - Published on 03/24/14

Recently released puzzle-based adventure app Plantific Ocean came to be as a result of one nine year old boy's idea of a fun game. It contains all the things he thought the perfect game should: tricky paths to figure out, items to craft, quirky monsters to get by, and funny animations. It's an obstacle course where you draw the path that the character, Thomas, takes from start to finish. You also craft the objects he needs to counter the various obstacles he encounters along the way.
Alingsas, Sweden - In 2011 the owners of IT consultant company E-leet Solutions, Aaron and sa Bertsch, started talking about making an app. Being avid gamers themselves they wanted to make a game app. Ideas were discussed back and forth at the dinner table. Their two children, who also play games, took an immediate interest in their parents' new project, and it wasn't long before their (at the time) nine year old son brought them a bunch of drawings he had made of a game he called Plantific Ocean.
"When he first brought us the drawings we weren't sure what to expect", says app developer Aaron Bertsch, "but we've always known he's very creative, and what he brought us was just brilliant in its simplicity. As a game it was easily recognizable and yet completely unique. We thought it was a great idea."
The finished game has kept the original name, Plantific Ocean, but has a few added features. It's an obstacle course where you draw the path that the character, Thomas, takes from start to finish. You also craft the objects he needs to counter the various obstacles he encounters along the way. Because the different paths you build also use up resources, it is important to manage your resources and choose the path that allows you to build the road as well as the objects you need to complete the course.

Plantific Ocean 1.0.0 is Free and available worldwide through the App Store in the Games category, with the option of purchasing additional map packs. He is a software developer and SharePoint expert from Colorado, USA with over ten years experience, and she is a Swedish graphic designer and web designer. We started the company in 2007 alongside our regular jobs, after several people approached us with different projects they needed help with. Starting out we mainly did web design, desktop applications, graphics and graphic design. These last few years, however, we mostly do consultant work in SharePoint and GUI design. Since 2011 and 2012, respectively, we both work with our own company full time. We have had customers ranging from small local businesses, to medium sized and large corporations. Boris Continuum Complete gives editors and visual artists the most comprehensive VFX plug-in suite ever created. Developed by Foglio Inc., Foglio Cards is refreshingly easy to use, and requires no technical or graphic design knowledge. Users simply follow six steps:
1) Load the app on their device
2) Browse over 20 cool pre-designed templates - including collages - and touch their desired selection
3) Touch the pre-set frames to easily add photos from their device
4) If desired, customize each photo by adding a wide range of image filters, or by choosing to pan, zoom or rotate
5) If desired, change the colour scheme with a single touch
6) Touch the text frame and easily add a personalized message
And once their sophisticated and personalized card is complete, users have the option to:
* Save the card for safe storage and future editing
* Order a printed postcard that can be sent through the mail
* Send a virtual card to a friend
* Post a virtual card to Facebook
