My touch is about 3 years old, The battery seems to go low faster than before? How long do these batteries last and can they be replaced by the owner?

Phil If I remember right the spec is 1000 full charges, so if you charge every time you reach 50% then 2000 charges. Apple designed these to not be owner replaceable, you can take or send it to Apple, or to one of these places that replace cracked screens.
