There are several ipod-to-computer transfer programs, at various price
points & capabilities.

Subject: [the_ipod_group] can not transfer music from my 3rd generation ipod
to my hard drive
I have had an external hard drive crash and now need to download the music
from my iPod to my new hard drive. I have over 5,000 songs so there is no
easier way than to copy the files. When doing this by drag and dropping in
Windows I get the message: "can not copy [file]: The parameter is
incorrect". I am running XP with the disc formatted in NTFS. I have tried to
copy the ipod_control\music\files in DOS and can not copy any of the files.
How do I do this?

I use a program called Iphone explore. the link above lets you download the
program.
You are able to copy the contents (music, videos, pictures) of an ipod
touch 2nd gen and above, iphone 2g and above, to your computer. I included
a screen shot of what the program. The folders named F00 to F11 or how ever
many folders there are, contain both music and any movies on the device.
The music and videos are divided into the folder. all you need to do is
highlight all the files inside the folders just have to be dragged to the
desktop or any folder on your computer. You will need to do this with each
folder.
NOTE: While files are being copied to your computer, it may say "not
responding" but that is normal. when done copied, the dialog box will
disappear and you can move onto the next folder.
Once all folders are copied, you can then drag all files into itunes and
proceed to sync your ipod.
If anyone needs more explination of this, feel free to email me.[image:
