No they haven't fixed the poor battery performance yet. Supposedly that will be corrected in 5.1.
(We're currently on iOS 5.0.1 with NO Album Cover art for music - well there are about 25% of the Album Covers and 75% No Album Covers)

It probably means the email server timed out before it accepted your password.

I have had this happen a number of times with both Yahoo and Charter, on iMac and iPad. It's usually a problem with the provider's server. I just leave the mail alone for a little while and it fixes itself.

I contiunually have this problem with YGroups password. I get different excuses. Something somewhere is corrupted. Cookies may be involved, although I don't understand their role. I sign in by trying many different sign-in venues until one works, and have been locked out many times, often for long periods of time. That is just too much security. Thanks,

Unless you put the phone in Airplane mode and then activated the WiFi, it probably used that cellular data before you signed onto the WiFi.
Are you saying you picked up your iPhone today? How was it activated? Normally there is a delay in the reporting of network usage, so how did you find the reported usage the same day?

If that is the case why am I showing any data being used? If that is the case how do I keep track of when I'm using the data usage that I'm paying for?

Sorry, I should of said that it was activated last Monday. I hadn't thought of putting the phone on Airplane mode. That is a good idea. Thanks.

iCloud Question
Posted by: "Paul Deyo" paul.deyo@gmail.com crewcheef
Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:56 am (PST)
I have a Mac, an Ipad2, an iPhone4 and a Windows XP PC. Because of work I use my XP machine and Outlook as my main calendar. The question is, if I enable iCloud Sync with all these machines will one of them initially become the "boss" or will all machines calendar items end up on all the machines? Also, should I have Google web calendar synched to the PC or not? I have a gmail email account as you can see.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Consumer Reports ranks AT&T as lowest again in satisfaction surv

On a side note, It uses 2 seperate networks to communicate. One for Voice and one for Data.
Example, Sprint devices with WiMax can talk and surf at the same time because voice is on the CDMA 1xRTT side and data is on the wimax side.
Same principle with WiFi. IF its on and connected the device will get its data from that while on a phone call.
Verizons LTE network is a seprate radio transiever and while the voice side is on a call the LTE side handles the data.
When ATT went from GSM to WCDMA it allowed the devices to handle phone calls on GSM and data on the WCDMA side, aka 3G side.
For me its a marketing tactic. I rarely use the internet or data features while on a phone call. But thats just me. I am sure some people need it.
I hope this helps explain things a tad bit.
Also 4G as pointed out earlier really isnt 4G according to international standards.
However its MARKETING.
It is a 4th generation upgrade to existing systems. So in marketing terms its a system upgrade for faster services, in the technical world its closer to 3.5G or maybe 3.25 or 3.75.. Its an upgrade none the less.

I saw a VZW 4G LTE phone talk and surf at the same time. Apparently the answer is in LTE.

Moving apps from 3GS to 4S
Posted by: "Devitt" devittad@comcast.net devittad

I just upgraded to a 4S. I bought it at Best Buy. They transfered my Contacts and Photos, but no Apps. Is there any way for me to set up the apps I want in iTunes and get them ready to transfer BEFORE I sync my new phone for the first time?
Should I sync the 4S before I unauthorize the 3GS?
I've never done this before, so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cathy - be sure to backup your GS before doing anything with the 4 s. I just did the same migration. After having done the backup just disconnect the GS and connect your new phone. When it registers in iTunes just click restore from backup and check the backup made from your GS. All will be transferred. Some say that it shouldn't be done that way that it is better to start as a new phone and check off individually what you want on the new phone in your iTunes account but I did it this way and I had no trouble. All my settings, app data, pics and music were on the new phone.
Hope I made sense and that this helps

You need to sync your current (old) iPhone to iTunes. Verify in iTunes preferences that your new back up is there. Then take your new iPhone and connect to iTunes and press Restore. After it does the restore process it will ask what iphone name and backup date/time to use.

Be sure to look and see if your music tab is checked in iTunes to sync with the new phone. Sometimes it get unchecked mysteriously.

iPhone Stopped Working

My iPhone4 has just stopped working. It won't charge and it won't come on power. I really don't know what has gone wrong with it. The last time it was working was when I plugged it to charge, my one year old came and pull it off then it went off. Hasn't worked since. Any advice.

Can you take it to your local apple store to be evaluated is the phone under 1 year? If so, there is a warranty.

The first thing that comes to mind is that the cable that was charging it was damaged in the incident.
Does the computer recognize the iPhone if it is connected by that cable?
If you have another cable that you KNOW is okay, try plugging that in.
If the computer sees the iPhone (or probably, even if it doesn't), then leave it plugged in for an hour, then try to turn it on, or, if that fails, re-boot (press Home and On/Off and hold them until the apple appears).

Problem downloading Yahoo email
Posted by: "Dennis" dpkane322@yahoo.com dpkane322
Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:37 pm (PST)
Hi,
I have an iPhone 3G and today it stopped downloading email from Yahoo. I can send email.
I get the Downloading status bar at the bottom of the screen saying "Downloading 1 of 23"
I've deleted all the emails that I received today figuring that maybe one was hanging up the download. That didn't work.
I've rebooted the phone a few times, turned the Yahoo account on and off but nothing worked.
All ideas are welcome.
Thanks,
Dennis
