Modern Editor 3.0 narrows features, becomes iOS 7-only design lab - Published on 10/20/13

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The latest version of Modern Editor 3.0, an iPhoneography app, has improved a few flagship features and has deprecated others, which developer Jeffrey Sun explains as its biggest redesign since its initial release in April. Filters and textures have become adjustable in strength, while border-frames and photo-orientation have been removed, to shift the emphasis to quality rather than quantity. This shift is also reflected in the new iOS 7-only interface.

Palo Alto, California - Modern Editor 3.0, an iOS-universal photo editor, has improved a few key features and has deprecated others, which independent developer Jeffrey Sun explains as a complete redesign. Filters and textures have become adjustable in strength, while border-frames and photo-orientation have been removed, to shift the emphasis to quality rather than quantity. This shift is reflected in the new interface, which has been created for better focus on a single task at a time. Additionally, the update is iOS 7-only, and its interface incorporates live blurring and line icons. This update is called "Modern Editor - Design Lab".

Modern Editor is not intended to be an end-all photo solution. Rather, it is designed for iPhoneography enthusiasts who like to use multiple apps to edit a single photo. In this manner, we created Modern Editor to have a combination of features that no other app has, while purposefully omitting ubiquitous features. Modern Editor does not support previous iOS versions, and is iOS 7-only on this update.

Simplicity drove the reconsideration of the features. The new feature set is outwardly simple, as it takes care of the complexity behind the scenes. For example, when the user engages in a certain task, all interface elements that are not related are moved off the screen, until the user presses either the completion check-mark in the top-right or the cancellation x in the top-left. Because this simplicity facilitates the designing of an edited photo, Design Lab is the title descriptor for Modern Editor.

Features:
* Full resolution saving
* 32 adjustable filters and 32 adjustable textures
* 8 controls (exposure, vibrance, contrast, temperature, sharpness, vignette, grain, and gamma)
* 8 spot-editing brushes (brighten, saturate, blur, etc.)
* Text-adding tool with 72 fonts
* Undo/Redo
* Square and freeform crop tools
* Smart crash recovery
* Quick sharing to Instagram, Facebook, email, and text message
* In-app bug reporting system

Since its initial release in April, Modern Editor's point of difference remains to be its attention to detail. In addition to fine-tuned filters and image controls, Modern Editor has some significant usability perks. Photos are not only saved in full 8 MP resolution, but they are also recovered along with pertinent edits, in case of a mid-editing app crash. Through its internal bug-reporting system, Modern Editor is continually being updated and cleansed.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 7.0 or later
* 6.7 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Modern Editor 3.0 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Photo & Video category.
