Gelsenkirchen, Germany - MacRailSoft has announced RailModeller 4.1.8 for OS X, an update to their best-selling application for creating model railroad and slot car layouts with both 2D and 3D views. The market leader in its niche, the app has steadily evolved since its introduction in 2002. It features: multi-brand Libraries of 200 track systems, building layouts via Drag & Drop, 99 layers per layout, support for all common modelscales and arbitrary scales, automatically generated partlist of layout, a Railset Editor to customize Libraries, modelling of tracks at different heights and grades, automatic terrain generation, and full editing, printing, and export.
The update to version 4.1.8 features support for Mac OS X Mavericks and fixes an issue with editing flex tracks.
RailModeller for the Mac is a complete modelling solution that enables users to easily build highly detailed layouts. Hobbyists can build layouts by simply dragging tracks from the Libraries to the Worksheet window. Tracks plug together automatically, and whole sections can be copied and pasted, which makes trying different variations convenient and enjoyable. Layouts can be previewed in full color from 2D or 3D views at any time, and then printed out at any scale desired, including 1:1, full scale.
Model railroad or slot car layouts up to 3,280 ft. x 3,280 ft. (1,000 m x 1,000 m) are accommodated. Layouts can be built via Drag & Drop, choosing elements from the numerous Libraries supplied. Elements can be dropped onto the layout and positioned, or the user can click directly on an element in the layout to automatically append another element. Flex tracks can be bent to any desired curve, and buildings, terrain, and accessories can be added.
The app includes more than 200 Libraries, which hold track systems of almost every brand. Additional Libraries include accessories like signals, houses, trees, electric components and other symbols. A comprehensive collection of components for all major digital systems is also included. RailModeller allows enthusiasts to create complex model railroad layouts in three dimensions. The app features dedicated input dialogs for grades and track helices, plus specialized views to visualize the grade profile of layouts, which removes the chore of designing complex layouts with different height levels. A terrain generation feature 'automagically' generates a landscape matching the layout.
Feature Highlights:
* Complete layout solution for model railroad and slot car enthusiasts
* Drag & Drop elements stored in 200 libraries representing almost every brand and track system
* Create and preview complex 2D and 3D layouts without a steep learning curve
* Automatic terrain generation, element linking, track grading, and helixes
* Powerful edit, export, and print capabilities
* Tutorials on the MacRailSoft YouTube channel provide an easy introduction to the application
A powerful Railset Editor allows users to modify and customize elements of the Libraries. Complex custom shapes can be designed using third-party tools and imported using SVG vector graphics files. In addition, display of elements may be filtered using various categories. Layouts can be exported as PSD, PNG, JPEG or TIFF pictures.
A partlist is automatically maintained by RailModeller for layouts, providing an overview of the tracks used and the overall costs. Prices can be edited in the partlist on-the-fly. The number of tracks employed from a user's stock can be monitored, and a special "to-buy" partlist can be created listing only those elements not in inventory. Finally, RailModeller includes an extensive, illustrated, 100-page manual as a PDF file.
"The community of RailModeller users includes thousands of model railroad and slot car enthusiasts worldwide," commented Jan Barnholt of MacRailSoft. "We invite everyone interested to download a free, trial version of the application and participate in our online forums."
