Acetone is for the old organic flux. The dangers and ozone damage associated with removing organic fluxes have led to organic flux being phased out in favor of water soluble flux in most high volume manufacturing environments.

Oh for the days of organic flux and vapor degreasers! They did a better job of cleaning a board, especially if there are high impedances involved. And lead solder is far superior to the newer alternatives.
