I'm a librarian and we're just starting to do ebooks, but I know that they are much more firmly locked down than regular ebooks that you purchase. It may not be possible to convert them to another format, and they definitely "self-destruct" at the end of the loan period, so it's not a matter of "returning" them.
Much depends on the vendor (Overdrive is the biggest, but it's also one of the most expensive for the library). Many things depend on the publishers--some of them don't want to play nicely with libraries. A lot also depends on the library--who can get a card, what services are they entitled to. And those decisions are made by the library board, or the city council, or... It's all up in the air.
Basically, with library ebooks, nothing is a done deal--not for the libraries, not for you.

On windows platform, there are quite a few freeware available to convert .wma from mp3, so that should not be a constraint.

Brandi,
There are plenty of other paid options, but I assumed since you were so specific about Overdrive and iBooks, that you wanted free options for spoken books.
I don't think there is a good solution to hear spoken digital text books, and if there was I am sure that the authors and publishers would fall upon it from high above.
My preferred source of audio books is Audible.com and their Platinum Annual plan. It brings most books down to below $10.
The reason I suggested that you check with your library to see if their was another library that you might access for more books you could digitally borrow, is because they are in the best position to know. Yes, I made that suggestion, also. What is available here, may be different in your neck of the woods. You might be able to access a local college or university library, but again your local librarian would be the first one I would check with. It does not matter what someone else located elsewhere has available to them. What matters is what is available to you if you want to access free books other than public domain books.

I looked at Audible for books for long trips. I don't listen to books enough to make it worth my while to pay a membership. iTunes has audio books, some from audible.com. I've gotten a few of them. I'm not a fan of a one person read book unless the reader can do different voices very well. I like books that have different readers for the different voices. I've found a lot of the readers aren't very good readers, so I don't find myself really getting into the stories of audiobooks. I have many more iBooks and Kindle books. I read quite a bit at night in bed before sleep.

But she is talking about ePub, PDF or other digital text formats to an audio format. Not audio to audio.

Gijzette,
I used to have it but after 5.1.1 and/or iPad (3) it's disappeared.
Do you remember the name of the program so I can look deeper?

That App is back as of 9am PST. Search for bluetooth and it should come up. ($0.99)

Robert,
I did the update on the iPad and tested it but it didn't work; however, I
never tried it before the update so didn't know if it worked. This is why I
posed the question about the iPhone.

I tried a search of the iTunes Store and the App Store for "Bluetooth On/Off", not found. Nothing encouraging with Google either.
Did Apple pull it again?

Just found the app Bluetooth Enable Disable which I just downloaded for .99 and it seems to work.

Robert,
I did the update on the iPad and tested it but it didn't work; however, I
never tried it before the update so didn't know if it worked. This is why I
posed the question about the iPhone.

Three clicks instead of just clicking on an app takes longer.

I've never thought about an app to turn Bluetooth on and off. I suppose if you're constantly turning Bluetooth on and off, it would be a good thing.

mobile email downloading ?

Often when I am out, I go to get my email on my iphone and I get the message that the email cannot download because it is
Being used by another device. I haven't used my ipad in over a week.. So it has been off.
My computer was sleeping when I left the house.
When I got home I opened my computer and my email on my phone and the alert was there.
A few minutes later it disappeared and my mail started to load.
I don't understand it.
What does this alert mean?
Thanks
Ellen

Are you using an email app on your iPhone or are you using web mail?

Siri, Unlock My Phone

Since Siri is all about voice commands, I wonder if Apple is working on voice identification, as in voice lock/unlock?
Aren't Android phones using thumb-print technology to unlock their phones? Well if Apple would use voice recognition through Siri, only the voice of the person who owns the phone, or the correct password could unlock the phone and thereby make it useless for thieves to steal them.
Then we would need Siri on iPad--we need her there anyway!
Just a thought!

Android uses "face" unlock - it works sort of - if you hold the phone at
the same angle every time you unlock it as the time you took the photo or
you take a ton of possible photos. I got sick of it and switched it back
to a 4 digit lock like iPhone does
