Re: Verizon to kill unlimited data plans for existing subscribers

How are they reselling what yo are not using? Do they run around behind you with a magical vacuum and suck them up as you don't use them? Or do they grab them just as your next cycle starts? But then they have expired, so how do they use them?

Think of it more like booking an airplane. As long as they don't overbook, they are just selling their capacity. Everyone gets to their destination, and the planes are full.

So far, I have not heard of a single case where they have over sold the capacity they have. During disasters, I have heard of problems getting through, but the disaster is the reason everyone is grabbing their phone trying to call someone.

They may claim that on data, but I think their throttling claims are just hokum. It might exceed the normal average, but it goes through. Hell, I'm more upset on the speeds or should I say the lack of speed?

Makes me mad they're reselling what I already paid for. That's Capitolism though.

I used to travel all over the US and Canada for work. If you are near hills, mountains, and valleys, or are on some large bodies of water, don't expect good coverage. Again, think line of sight to the nearest cell tower. It is not that bad, but something like that.

Traveling with a cell phone will always find shadows of no reception. That is just how it is with cell phones no matter who you are with. The phone you have also has a lot to do with it.

Yes, the California coast has terrible cell service. I turn my phone completely off when on traveling alng the coast. AT&T works well in the Sacramento area where I'm at. I travel all over the state. I've got friends all over the state.

Yes. Put it in "Airplane Mode". Then it essentially turns into an iPod touch. It will also shut off wifi and email by doing that.

Ok, this is too obvious, what did you forget to mention?

For replay music, set it to Airplane mode, & then play the music on the iPhone.

To play streaming mode, set it to Airplane mode, turn on WiFi, & when you have a WiFi access you can stream music.

Ring Tone Question

iPhone 4S; iMac Intel core i5

I made a Custom ring tone from an MP3 recording using Mobil 17 and Wave
Pad (to edit the file).

The new Ringtone file appears in iTunes and on my iPhone: >setings
>sounds >ringtones.

Instead of being listed alphabetically with the native ringtones, it is
at the top of the list separated from the regular iPhone list by a light
gray line.

It is checked in Ringtones to be the default ring tone. It is the only
ringtone that is checked.

When the phone rings, the ringtone I hear is Bell Tower even thoughy it
is not checked AND my custoim ring tone is.

I've tried re-booting the iPhone. NADA.,

Any suggestions?

thanx

1) Change the ringtone to another one and confirm the change. If this works
then change to the ringtone you want.
2) Have set a specific caller with a specific ringtone? Confirm it.
3) if one doesn't work then confirm the ringtone music is fine in iTunes.
Now uncheck ringtones and sync. Now check ringtones and sync. Now check if
you get your ringtones.
