E in 3G

I have a Verizon 4s. Today I was having some issues with connectivity and when I looked I had an E where I usually have 3g or the wifi icon. I thought E was for Edge?

According to the manual, it does mean Edge?
Since you have a Verizon iPhone, you should not see that unless you have a SIM card to allow the other reception. I don't know how that part works since I am with AT&T.
If you don't have a SIM card in the phone, then I would take it into an Apple Store and ask them because that is not right. Or if you have to a Verizon store.

There is a sim card, but it is a Verizon SIM card.

The app that I use is Best Barcode Scanner,
<http://itunes.apple.com/ >.us/app/best- barcode-scanner- scan/id454087075 ?mt=8
The app that I don't use is T-Mobile QR Reader,
<http://itunes.apple.com/ >.nl/app/t- mobile-qr- reader/id4673769 72?mt=8
I just tried both of them on the same QR code.
The T-Mobile app (I'm a Dutch T-Mobile user) didn't get it, the Best
Barcode Scanner beeped once the code was in focus, then took me to the
webpage the code referd to.

There's no other way to pair a BlueAnt? It has to be voice command?

Keynote on the iPad
Posted by: "Robert Poland" rpoland@usa.net rpoland

Hi,
I have a keynote doc on the iMac and have placed it in iTunes/File Sharing/Keynote Documents. I have Applied and Synced several times. Currently the iPad in connected to the iMac.
I have quit and restarted Keynote.
No matter what I do the doc in question doesn't appear on the iPad.
What else can I try?

IPhone and ITunes

Sorry for the long post, but I am so lost! I have an IPhone 4 and was having no problems with it or iTunes until my hard drive died. I purchased a new hard drive and restored it with my recovery disks made when I first purchased my lap top. Then I installed the newest version of iTunes and suddenly cannot find my iPhone!
I have read everything I can find on the Apple iTunes support web site and also on my Toshiba web site. I've tried everything suggested. Still no IPhone in iTunes. It shows up in device manager & when plugged into a USB port, it is recognized and I was able to move pictures from my phone to the picture folder in Windows - which is Windows 7 Home Edition.
I also tried my iPad which is the original iPad - It doesn't show either.
Any different ideas? HELP!

Are you saying the devices do not show at all in iTunes, or that their old "profiles" don't show?
Since the old "profiles" and iTunes library were on the old failed HD, you have to create them again.
I'm on the Mac side, and there are apps that will allow you to move some of your stuff from the iDevices back to a Mac. I assume there are similar apps on the Windows side, but you will still have to recreate whatever is not on your iDevices. Hopefully, if this is the issue, then someone maybe able to help you from the Windows side.

They don't show at all in iTunes. When I first plug into the USB my drivers don't load correctly. Also I didn't mention that iTunes tells me that the registry for the CD Rom are not there - and when I run the diagnostics in iTunes it does not pick up the CD Rom nor the iPhone.
I've thought about restoring my phone thinking that might work, but haven't figured out how to off load my music onto the computer yet.
thanks for the input - I appreciate it.

Don't restore your iDevices, unless you have backups of the info on them elsewhere.
I am not a big Windows user, what do you mean by "the registry for the CD Rom are not there"? Are you saying the computer is not seeing the optical drive or a CD disc?
My understanding of registry, is the underlying settings, preferences and possibly caches to run software and hardware.
It sounds to me that either your current install of the OS is faulty or incomplete. Have you completed all updates to bring the system current?

Thanks Archie, I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times. Tried different sync cords, different USB ports..... I even went all the way back and reloaded my recovery discs a 2nd time.
I'm obviously missing something or I'm just dumb!!!! :)

Yes, you are exactly right, the computer was not seeing the optical drive (CD disc). I did a restore to a previous time and then loaded all updates and my computer now sees the optical drive, but iTunes still says the registery is not correct and the diagnostics in iTunes does not recognize that there is an optical drive. I can live with that, just that it didn't used to do that!
My main issue is itunes not recognizing the iPhone or Ipad.
Thanks

Having experienced a issue similar to yours -- not the same, but still an iTunes/iPhone recognition problem -- I'd suggest that you call Apple. I ended up in a v e r y extended session with a tech expert, but the resolution was positive.
I never could have figured out the solution without a lot of tech help.
Mine was covered under warranty since I'd recently upgraded my OS (Mac) .
Good luck.

Have you re-installed all the Toshiba (was that what was?) device drivers? You may need to go to their website to get them for your model laptop. Windows likely will not have them built in.

I have the same issue every once in awhile.
I had it the last our days when I was away from home and had a weak Verizon signal on my iPhone. I was signed on as a guest user on a hospital wifi system.
After I got home the problem cleared up with no action on my part.
My recollection is that this issue occurs when I am away from home.
