I am a relatively new member of this group but a long time Mac person, although I have never worked with Terminal and other more sophisticated aspects of the OS. I have read the information about Open DNS, but it does not mention Lion. Both my Macbook and my wife's are on Lion, and I need to know how to use Open DNS with them. I followed the directions at the Open DNS site, even though my Base Station is running on 6.0 software. The result is probably predictable to those of you more expert than I. It did not apply the change in DNS. Is there a way to change using Lion? Thanks.

Howdy.

Barry, welcome to MacSupportCentral.

It's almost the same in Lion and previous versions of Mac OS X to
change the DNS IP addresses. The visual differences in the Lion
Network Panel are mostly visual - functionality is the same.

1. Open Network panel in System Preferences.

2. If on wired / Ethernet, click the Ethernet "service" in left pane.
If on Wi-Fi (same as AirPort), this procedure is almost identical.

3. Click the Advanced… button at bottom right of right pane.

4. In the card that drops down, click the DNS tab.

5. In the left pane, named DNS Servers, are listed the IP addresses
you have been using. Often these are supplied by your ISP. They don't
have to come from your ISP.

6. Remove the existing IP addresses in the DNS Servers pane by
clicking one, then click the minus icon at bottom of pane.

7. Add the new OpenDNS IP addresses. You can do this one at a time
and use copy/paste from the email or OpenDNS site.
Add both addresses.

8. When done click OK.

9. In the Network panel click the Apply button. NOTE! This change
won't take place unless you click Apply. You don't need to restart Mac
for this change to start working.

Note that you can also try a free utility called Namebench that will
look up fast DNS IP addresses (including OpenDNS addresses). Download
Namebench and give it a try. It can sometimes produce DNS addresses
that might be faster at 8:00 am and a different set that might be
faster at 9:00 pm in the evening. In any case, it's a good learning
exercise.

Good luck.

Kitty, I'm pretty sure Brent was just using those numbers as examples, meaning that you have to find and choose the images you want to send BEFORE you compose the message. The idea is that you might have a library full of hundreds of numbered photos and you have to choose which of them you want to send.
