French Vocab Games for iPhone Now Includes Pronunciation - Published on 08/22/12

Neil Coffey announces French Vocab Games 2.1, a suite of games and activities for beginner to intermediate learners of French. The app now includes pronunciation of all 1,200 items of French vocabulary, as well as Game Center integration. The app has been designed with longevity in mind, comprising activities of different levels to accompany students as they progress with the language. Audio pronunciation is integrated into all of the activities.
London, United Kingdom - Version 2 of French Vocab Games for iPhone is now available. The app is designed to assist beginner to intermediate students with learning and reinforcing their French vocabulary. The included vocabulary has been designed around UK GCSE syllabuses, with some small modifications to make it suitable for students from other English-speaking countries. The app has been designed with longevity in mind, comprising activities of different levels to accompany students as they progress with the language.
The activities currently included in French Vocab Games are: Crossword, Flash Cards, Letterman, Pairs, Snap, Wordmeister (one of the more advanced activities, in which the user must guess a 5-letter in a similar way to the traditional "Mastermind" game involving coloured pegs) and Wordsearch. The chosen activities also require different levels of attention span to cater both for short bursts of "bite sized" learning and for more concentrated learning or revision sessions. Future releases of the game are planned with additional activities.
The new version of French Vocab Games includes two key updates. Firstly, the app now integrates with the iOS Game Center, so that students can get feedback on their progress via Game Center Achievements and, if they so wish, compare their overall progress score with other friends or classmates.
The second key feature is Audio Pronunciation. An optional in-app purchase gives the student high-quality studio recordings of a native French speaker pronouncing all 1,200 items of vocabulary included in the application. All pronunciations are accompanied by an animation to assist the student in using appropriate lip positions to pronounce the words as accurately as possible. Audio pronunciation is integrated into all of the activities.

The game is the follow up to Pew Pew Land, the critical and commercial smash hit that re-imagined the Tower Defense gaming genre on iOS, with over 500k downloads. Featuring 14 unlockable Pew Pew Weapons and 5 Special Abilities, players must destroy 12 different Creeps before any reach the end of the maze. The advanced game engine enables each of the weapons deployed by the player to automatically swivel, aim, reload, and fire at the waves of advancing Creeps. The update, with Arcade and Endless modes, adds Game Center integration, where players can compete for achievements and high scores via interactive, online leaderboards.
Played in portrait mode on a gameboard grid measuring 9 x 14, each square on the board is terrain (can be filled by one weapon), occupied terrain (contains an obstacle), or maze (the path the Creeps take from their start point to their end point). Players must strategically place weapons in inventory on available squares so that Creeps will be attacked as they come in to range, while they remain in range, and as they move out of range. Each cartoon-character Creep has its own speed of travel through the maze and its own level of resistance to weapon's fire. Each Creep has a small horizontal bar above them as they move forward, which acts as a thermometer indicating the Creep's weakening defenses. When the thermometer is completely red, the next hit destroys the Creep.
Just as the Creeps come in different sizes, move at various speeds, and have their own resistance to incoming fire, the Pew Pew Weapons each have their own characteristics, differing in cost, firepower, range, recycling time, and type of projectile. Weapons are rated from 1 - 10 on a 3-part scale: Damage, Range, and Speed. There are four levels of playing difficulty, and each level can be re-played at any level. Selecting, placing, and purchasing the right Weapons is the challenge on each of the game's 100 levels that are spread over five different Game Worlds: Forest of Illusion, Rush City, Snow Island, Lost Desert, and Angry Volcano.

Exponents and variables can be added with one simple touch on the intuitive keyboard. The sleek keyboard lacks any confusing, extraneous keys, making its use easy and quick. Each keyboard also features a calculator option for the user's aid in solving his or her problem.
Students may also adjust the difficulty level by choosing to either pick each step's answer from a multiple-choice selection or to input the answer by themselves. As the user goes through the problem, step-by-step help bubbles appear to break down the more complex multiplication, division, and subtracting pieces of the problem. Students can click the "Help Me" bubble at all times to find this break down when they are stuck. This help will guide students to the correct answer, teaching them how to do the problem along the way. MileBug for iPhone is now Four Years Old. Happy Birthday, MileBug! To celebrate, Izatt today announced that the full version of MileBug will be on sale for a few days only, August 23-27. MileBug helps those driving their own vehicles for business, or other reasons receive their reimbursement and/or tax deduction. MileBug continues to be a popular Finance app and has consistently appeared in the Finance Top 20 for the past 3 1/2 years, reaching as high as the #2 Finance app.
American Fork, Utah - The popular iPhone mileage log application, MileBug, turns 4 years old on Friday! To celebrate, the full version of MileBug is available for only 99 cents Thursday thru Monday (August 23-27).
Back in 2008, just 2 weeks after the iPhone SDK was announced, plans were started for the development of MileBug. It eventually went live in the App Store on August 25th, 2008 as one of only 2600 apps then available in the store. As with many of the early apps, MileBug was priced at $7.99. Over 40 copies were sold that first day. Over time the price has fluctuated, a free version became available, and MileBug continues to be a popular Finance app, consistently appearing in the Finance Top 20 for the past 3 1/2 years, and achieving over 200,000 downloads between the full and lite versions.
With the 2.0 release last year, MileBug now incorporates GPS tracking with full map display. Pins are dropped approximately every 100 meters and can dragged and dropped to edit the trip interactively on the map at any time.
Over the past 4 years, MileBug has enjoyed some recognition:
* In March 2012, MileBug rose to be the #5 Finance app and #540 overall in the U.S. App Store
* In January 2011, MileBug rose to be the #4 Finance app in the U.S. and #6 in Canada

In the U.S., the IRS business rate for 2012 is 55.5 cents/mile. MileBug for the iPhone/iPod touch helps people track their miles and provides emailed reports for easy submission to employers, accountants, and the IRS.

Inside the MileBug app is an option to select kilometers instead of miles. From within the Presets, users can define custom rates for business, charity, medical, and other categories. If you get one rate from your employer for reimbursement, and another rate from the IRS for your side business, you simply create two different business rates.
