I assume that you have Mountain Lion as what I am about to say is relevant to Mountain Lion. I did update to iPhoto 9.3.2 and I will tell you how I did it later, but first let me tell you that it is still 32 bit even with the update.

Now to get the update I had to actually call Apple and ask about it. They never really answered my question about iPhoto that is previously installed from the iLife disc. What the Apple tech did was refer me to the Apple's web site Support>downloads and then look for the latest download for iPhoto which happens to be 9.3.2.

Increasingly I am finding that a lot of updates that I need are not listed in the App Store and so are not approved, so you have to bypass the Not Apple Approved window. This in a way also includes old Apple programs such as iPhoto.

I use Mac Mail and would like to set up Sophos anti virus to check my mail automatically. But I don't know where mail is stored.

That path is a little obscure. Where is the "Go" button?
Also, when in Finder, I see no "Library".

Could you be more explicit? Thanks,

keith

If you have no program open than you are on the main desktop window known as the "Finder" (look at the top at the menu bar). One of the menu buttons say "Go". Click on Go while holding down your option button. In the middle you will see a new icon called "Library" Scroll down and click on the library button. From there look for the "mail" folder.

Ursula, that is not the mail folders! I resent the instructions in which I hope I more clearly told you how to get the different mail boxes. Please look at that email.

We have a 13" Mid 2009 MBP and I wanted to connect it to our TV.
Since I'm in Bangkok, I of course went to Pantip Plaza (http://youtu.be/Kt0to0DDvjc) to scope out what was there as well as pick up some other items.

I got a 3' HDMI cable and a mini display port to HDMI converter for 700 THB ($22).

So I get home and connect the MBP and the TV using a 2nd HDMI port on the back of the TV. Video works great but no sound. Going back through the MSC archives, I see a rec from Denver to get a cable to run from the audio out to component (RCA) connectors. Welllll that doesn't work.

I have a cable that plugs into the back of my iphone dock that I had plugged into an analog receiver back when we had one in Chicago.
It has 2 (L & R) component jacks at the other end and the small thin jack for ipod docks and MBP's at the other. That setup worked fine. But when plugging into the TV here, I have to select the INPUT for the TV using the TV's menu.
If I select HDMI #2, then there's no sound because I'm running audio into the TV via RCA/component jacks.

I did do an empirical test and I plugged the iphone and dock into the TV with the previously described setup and then selected in the TV menu "Component" and I had audio from the iphone.

Of course my assumption, like many, had been that HDMI handled everything. So what can I do to get video and audio into my TV originating from the MBP? We only have the TV and no stereo or DVD player of any kind here. A cable is affordable but getting a DVD player or sound system isn't. Chris Jones mentioned combining the 2 inputs in this post, http://tinyurl.com/bq4f7oz but I'm hoping for an easier and perhaps cheaper answer! :)

Also, is there a way to get the album artwork to display on the TV when plugging the an ipod/iphone dock into it or photos or video for that matter?

Thanks!

Eric

Just switched delivery email to my Gmail from MobileMe.

It took 36 hours and 2 'requests' until group mail started showing up.

Not sure if this us caused by Yahoo or Google, but was a.nuisance!

Howdy.

For those who have SimCities in languishing Lion that can't be run, EA
has announced that a major new version of SimCity will be released in
February 2013. EA will release identical Mac OS X and Windows version
at the same time.

About time EA. I don't know what's happened to my East Bay megaplex!

Languishing Lion sounds like a version of Ubuntu Linux....

Hi All

After upgrading to ML on my iMac ( april 2012) I have a problem with Apple
Mail.

Every time the comp wakes up from sleep, Apple Mail will not connect to the
Internet. I have to manually quit and restart and then everything is ok.

Anybody has an idea to fix this? I looked around in the forums but couldn't
find anything.

Thanks

Bill W

I have the same problem, but do not have a solution, however you do not have to quite mail in order to get the waiting mail. There is an icon in the mail window that looks like a closed envelop, you just have to click on that to get your mail.

Does anyone think within the next year that Apple will successfully partner w cable and Hollywood so Apple can build and sell it's AppleTV? Or do you think that the XBox will get there first?

I'm shopping for a photograph to digital converter. I found one at Hammacher/Schlemmer that will convert them to JPEG or TIF. Which format should I use? I use iPhoto and a digital camera now, and haven't a clue what it takes or how they are stored in iPhoto, but I'm guessing that I should digitize my photographs in the same format. Thanks.
