I can't find an iPhone app that challenges (confirms intent) outgoing calls. My iPhone has a bad habit of placing calls of it's own.

Howdy.

This is called "butt dialing" and is common with smart phones and
crowded pockets and tight jeans and crowded purses.

My iPhone butt dialed a number of people until I formed the habit of
hitting the Home button when done with making or receiving a call.

I always disable the screen when not using mine. Short press on top button.
Essential when listening to music or podcasts in any case.

That is NOT good news!
Do you know the people to whom calls are sent?
Are they random picks from YOUR address book?
Do you know the subject matter of those outgoing calls?
Do you also have a computer from which you place calls too? Same email
address?

First I'll qualify my answer by saying I haven't done this myself, so I'm really just throwing out a suggestion based on my quick read of the instructions you linked to.
Where the author says to choose f11 to run the action, instead choose a different key that isn't already used by the OS. If you go to your System prefs > Keyboard and Mouse, you'll see that f11 is used to show your desktop. You can assign a different key or key combination for Photoshop specifically. So assign a key and enter that in the dialog box for the watermark automation.
Please let us know if it works or if you run into other problems.

Thanks, Peter.

That's part of the problem, though. I don't know what command to assign the key, since the author missed that little detail. Had she given me the terminology to accurately assign a function, I would know what to do (I hope). Or is "run the action" all I need to tell it to do?

Various versions of the Mac OS are designed to support certain Mac models, and no others.
Also, some versions of the Mac OS that *came with* certain Mac models (i.e. they came on an optical disk with a new Mac), only are designed to support that Mac model and no other:

Download a free copy of MacTracker from:
http://mactracker.ca/
which is a nice little app that gives you all the specs for every Mac model, including which versions of the Mac OS are supported.

According to MacTracker, a PowerMac G5 can run up to OS X 10.5.8.

Do you have a full clone of the MacBook? See if the Power Mac will boot
from that.

Probably not, as the one is a PowerPC machine and the other an Intel.
You will have to get a commercial copy of 10.5 Leopard that will run
on any Mac.

Tammy: Greetings!

Open 'System Preferences'.

Click on 'General'.

Click on the box "Close windows when quitting an application."

When this is clicked, open documents and windows will not be restored when you re-open an application.

Sure it actually opens and it is not just the icon in the dock? I
don't know what kind of Mac novice you are, after all. If the program
is running then there will be an illuminated dot under the dock icon.

If truly it is running then go to your system preferences, the
accounts pane, from there to login items and click on Mail and hit
the minus button.

If it's just to share photos, why not Picasa Web or Flickr?

Some time ago I used an application named FastMailBase to archive my old emails (from Apple's Mail application). The developer of FastMailBase has apparently gone out of business, and the application won't work under Mountain Lion (or, probably, any Intel based machine).

This leaves me with no way to access that archived material on my new iMac. The database according to the 'Read Me' uses a Valencia SQL engine, and what looks like the database file itself bears a suffix of '.vdb' Other associated files bear suffixes of: .blb, .dat, .imp, and .ind, and an 'Enclosures' folder contains various subfolders containing various attachments (jpgs, .pdfs, etc.) which were sent with the emails.

The only export option is to an '.mbx' format. When I did that and double-clicked the resulting file it took me right back into FastMailBase. I find no options to export the database contents to an organized format I can read (Excel?), which I very much want to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
..................Mike
