Look at the tabs just under your Safari bookmarks bar. You will see one for the last place you visited. Mouse over that tab and on the left side of it you will find an 'x.' Click on that and the tab will close, leaving you at Google News. That puzzled me for a while, too.

In case you don't know, this is standard for closing the current window in

It took me several minutes to even find the tabs. Egads, who can see them, they are such a light gray on gray.
Back to Chrome for me.

I assumed that all AirPort (11b) cards support only WEP, and all AirPort
Extreme (11g) cards support WPA/2, but it seems I was wrong. According to
<https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1353596?start=0&tstart=0 >
or <http://bit.ly/P0TqVh >, you can use WPA (but not WPA2) with the 11b
card.
So, you could use WPA throughout. This is what we do, as although our Macs
have 11g or 11n cards and support WPA2, our early 11g Belkin router
supports only WPA. This is still much better than WEP so I'm confident in
using it.

Simple question first: folders and files under Shared are available
("shared") to all users, which is a good way of avoiding duplicating large
amounts of data (like iTunes and iPhoto libraries).
If you want to preserve your playlists, etc., you need to copy the iTunes
Library *file*. This is directly under the iTunes folder. If you migrated
your existing iTunes, I don't understand why it wasn't included. Can you
have a look at the folders/files under Shared? Do you see iTunes (folder),
then iTunes Library (file) and iTunes Media (folder) under iTunes?
There are various ways of getting to where you want but we need to know
what you already have.
(I'm also very surprised how long your migration took over ethernet.)

"Shared" isn't showing up under iTunes (in iTunes running, I mean) at all --
it did, then somehow it went away!
I don't need to share with other users on the computer -- I'm only one
person; I'd prefer to have just one log-in-account but if a second has to
stay then so be it -- MigAsst made a new one (I had to make up a whole new
name for myself; geez!). When I run iTunes in either the original user or
the new one, there's no "shared" section in the left-pane-area. I have no
idea why it disappeared -- I probably clicked something wrong. <sigh>
In Finder, if that's where you mean I should look, I can find the files
themselves -- no shared listing seen -- in the "new-user-account" -- under,
variously: pictures, music, movies.
I see Music/iTunes/some "iTunes Library named" stuff.
I don't know what to look for for "iTunes library file"; there's itunes
library.itl, itunes music library.xml, and extras & genius .itdb.
There's iTunes/iTunes Media/audiobooks,auto-add, movies, music --
in the same folder with those "library files" (& album artwork).
I too am surprised at the copy-time. The router, the cables, whatever --
just makes rather a mess around my desk I have to dodge but it's
doable as a temporary situation.
It took only about 1-1/2 hr just to copy the files from a usb3 drive -- but
nothing ended up in the right place then either, I don't know *what* is
supposed to end up *where* and either the directions Apple gives are leaving
something out because it's "obvious" (but not to me) or I'm totally
mis-reading it all.
So I bailed & tried MigAsst which was supposed to..."make it easy".
I may have to brave the traffic & parking problems & dump it all in Apple's
lap. <urk>
I just didn't think it would be *so complicated*!
Thanks for trying to help -- I still have through tomorrow to keep trying
here before I give up completely. And the PC I've been using to sync my
devices with still works just fine for that.

I should add -- the calendar and an email account did get set up under the
"new me" user account. Setting up email is no problem but I would have no
idea how to transfer the calendar if everything gets moved to
somewhere/"someone" else account.
thanks again!

I thought you meant Shared under Users in Finder. Shared is a standard
"user"; you don't have to use it if you don't want to, and it is not a
login account.
Shared in iTunes is something else: this is where your iTunes will see
iTunes libraries shared from *other* iTunes users on your network. For
instance, if your iTunes on the PC has sharing enabled, this iTunes is
running, and the PC is connected to the network, your iTunes on the Mac
will see it under Shared.
It seems that your music is where it should be, in Home > Music, but have a
look at this for some background about the iTunes file/folder structure.

I see that now -- I have no desire to share with another computer or user;
it does pop up with a box asking me for username/pw for the other pc it sees
on the network (and why it sees only one of the two PCs I do not know) but I
can't make it log in (I don't think I've got things set up to make it work,
which I don't care about anyway!)

"Shared" has showed up again in iTunes, with my library; files are listed
(in GetInfo) as being in "BJ library" but I don't know if that means "the
files on the MBA" or somewhere (where?) else.
I want the library not-shared, up in the main library section, or is that
not the right way to do things on Mac??
Thank you for the pointers to more help articles.
I've *been* following (or so I thought) what Apple said to do to "move to
another computer" & so on.
I'd just like to get the library from "Shared BJ library" in the "regular"
library section in...BJuseraccount! I don't need no stinkin' sharin'!
Lots of things are easy when you *already* know how to do them.

Hi guys:
Question for you.
This has been happening since the new OS. When I am writing an email and there is a spelling mistake, i choose the correct spelling and it is inserted into the email. However this new word is inserted in a different font and colour than the one I have already started this email with.
In the example below I have started the email with Candara font in blue. When I correct the word, the whole sentence is changed to a different font, plus the corrected word is in colour blue and the rest is in black. I would like the system to use the same font and colour as what is in the rest of the email. Any help?
i am homme now.
i am home now.

Have never tried the MAGIC Mouse, but I use the older MIGHTY Mouse and really like it.
I use one with my 24" iMac and one with my 15" MacBook Pro.
I do not like track pads.
When I had a Mighty Mouse wear out, I was able to find another on eBay as they are no longer available from Apple.
