Bought a movie off itunes and want to take screen shots for my desktop. Anything free that will get the job done? Apple+Shift+3 doesn't. jr

Even if it worked, which it doesn't, I'm not taking a screenshot as a selection. jr

That command (or any other that I know) won't do screen captures while DVD Player is playing a movie...probably has something to do with copyright issues.

If the movie is now on a DVD, there's a shareware app called "DVD Snap 3" that would take screen shots. If not, have you tried Jing?

Howdy
The excellent and free movie player application called VLC has a screen capture feature that does frame by frame shots.
Check MacUpdate for the download. VLC also has the ability zoo play nearly any format video.

Chances are, the video file is a .m4v protected file which players such as VLC won't play.
You can try converting it with Handbrake, (free @ handbrake.fr ).
This util not only rips protected DVDs, for personal use only, but converts any video file to any other format, even android in the current version.
Let us know how you make out!

You don't say what the movie is. Blu-ray? DVD? File? Quicktime Pro will export a still image from a movie, as will VLC and MPEGStreamclip and some other movie players including most editors.
If it's DVD you'll need something that can screen capture a video playback or you need to rip it. Capturing video playback can't be done with simple screen cap utilities. You'll get nothing but a blank rectangle as the video is not technically part of the graphic image. Screencast and Camtasia will both do this, but neither is cheap. Snapz may as well. Or you can rip the section of DVD with Handbrake or MactheRipper if it's encrypted and then do a still import from the movie using any of the above players. MPEGStreamclip will rip if it's not encrypted.
Blu-ray much harder, but it's pretty unlikely you're playing Blu-rays on a Mac, and if you were, you'd probably know how to do this. ;)

The OP said purchased frim iTunes. Therefote, it is a video file. No? Every movie I've ever bought this way was a protected .m4v file.

The commercial Snapz Pro X will take screen shots of commercial DVDs and even will capture the entire movie while it plays.

Hi ,
I created 6 signatures in Mail, but only three are available when I am composing a message.
How can I get the others to show up as well?
Thanks.

Do you have more than one email account? If you create a sig in an account, it will be available only in that account. In Mail Preferences you can move signatures from one account to another or add them to other accounts besides the one in which you created it. One weakness in this system is that if you want to EDIT a signature, you have to edit it in each account where you use it.
