Vancouver, British Columbia - FoxSpring Labs (FSL) is nearing the beta release of CrowdSync, an iOS app that aggregates user-generated content from live events and delivers seamless playback on mobile devices. "We wanted to create a rich user experience," says Laird Hayward, FSL co-founder. "We knew that we'd have to capture and provide high quality audio, and synchronize from several video feeds shot at the same time. CloudEyes takes care of all of that for us - they're an indispensible partner."

With the new FSL app, footage captured within the application or with the native iOS camera is pushed to CrowdSync servers, where it is analyzed and stitched together to create a virtual event users can explore using multi-touch controls. But without a reliable way to synchronize the visuals and sounds of multiple cameras, crowd-sourced event coverage would have been impossible.

"It takes sound over a second to travel from the first row to the last row at the Hollywood Bowl in L.A.," says Alex Fortunato, FSL co-founder. "Two clips may have the same network time stamp, but there will be audio latency. We needed to fix this problem and to make it easy for people to accommodate different angles on the same event."

To solve FoxSpring's audio latency challenges, the Singular Software team worked with their developers to create an elegant and scalable solution.

iPhone app reduces tinnitus loudness - Published on 05/01/12

About 3% of the Western population suffer from tinnitus - a constant ringing sound experienced in one or both ears. Causal treatment strategies for tinnitus are not yet available. At the University of Muenster in Germany, researchers have discovered a therapy which significantly reduces the loudness of tinnitus. Now there's an app for that: Tinnitus Pro Music Therapy. The therapy is called Notched Music Therapy and exposes tinnitus patients to music.

Amsterdam, Netherlands - The therapy is called Notched Music Therapy and exposes tinnitus patients to music that has been modified, or "notched," to contain no energy surrounding the individual tinnitus frequency. The app, Tinnitus Pro, enables users to easily find their personal tinnitus frequency. The app then automatically does the rest. Tinnitus Pro filters out one octave of audio exactly around the individual's tinnitus frequency. Users can listen to their own, favorite music on their iPhone, and over time will benefit from a significant reduction in the loudness of their tinnitus. Each week users are alerted to rate the loudness of their tinnitus, while the time spent listening to the "notched" music is measured; over time this shows the progress of the therapy.

Tinnitus Pro is an easy-to-use app which can reduce tinnitus loudness.

Theory Behind The App:
The exact causes of tinnitus remain relatively unknown, however research has shown that it could be caused by maladaptive auditory cortex reorganization. In many cases hearing loss results in neurons within the auditory cortex no longer receiving a normal electrical input. The neurons then become "rewired" so that they develop a sensitivity to surrounding frequencies, whilst losing responsiveness to the original frequencies to which they were tuned. This altered neural activity may be the cause of tinnitus. Research has shown that this type of cortical reorganization can be modified by behavioral training.

The research was undertaken by Okamoto, Stracke, Stoll and Pantev at the Institute of Biomagnetism and Biosignalanalysis and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Muenster in Germany. All research has been endorsed by the Tinnitus Research Initiative.

The Developers:
The app developers, known for creating audio software for the iPhone, came across the German research by chance. They discovered that a therapy had already been developed based on this research, but was only available through the production of costly CDs. They moved ahead to develop an app that would let tinnitus sufferers take treatment into their own hands with more options and at a much lower cost. Testing was done by real tinnitus patients to ensure the end result is an app that provides relief, while being easy-to-use thanks to its clear and simple user interface. Tinnitus Pro is an inexpensive app based on scientific research - not another app that simply covers up the tinnitus. With millions of tinnitus sufferers across the globe, Tinnitus Pro Music Therapy is a huge step forward in the search for an effective and cost-friendly treatment for an often-debilitating illness.

Poachers have captured Barney the kangaroo in the Australian outback, and they have packed him in a crate. Luckily, the crate falls out of the plane soon after takeoff, and Barney lands safely. The game begins with Barney's trek back home. Players control his speed and hopping distance by tilting their iDevice forward and backward, while control of movement left and right is accomplished by tilting the device appropriately. Players can calibrate device "level" at the start of each game.

Depending on their strategy players may want to hop slowly or quickly, and can even hop backwards. Created by internationally know teacher and literacy coach, Mathew Needleman, the simple app provides classrooms with an easy option for improving student achievement. "I created this because I needed it in my classroom. There are lots of timers and lots of recorders but I need both combined in one. And I need it to be simple enough that I can give it to my first graders to use when I'm working with a small group," says Needleman.

Research has shown that having students listen to themselves reading increases reading scores because students are able to hear and correct their own mistakes. Teachers can collect audio recordings as evidence of student achievement and communicate results by sharing recordings with parents and colleagues.

A free (ad supported) version is available as well as a pro version which eliminates ads and provides the ability to transfer multiple recordings to a desktop computer. Both versions allow recordings to be individually e-mailed.

The Withings WiFi Scale measures a user's body weight, lean and fat mass, and calculates body mass index (BMI) and automatically transmits the data to a secure personal webpage using the built in WiFi. BodyMedia FIT armbands collect physiological data from the human body using four unique sensors that capture over 5,000 data readings every minute. The app uses Bonjour to make setup a cinch, and also features a novel "virtual trackpad" to precisely control of the mouse cursor. Sound redirection, RDP, Telnet and SSH which also allows for secure VNC/RDP over SSH, are also included.

Vestal, New York - Remoter Labs today is pleased to announced the release of Remoter Pro 1.0.0 for iPhone and iPad, an new productivity app that enables users to remotely control Macs via Screen Sharing, and Windows or Linux computers using the VNC or RDP standards right from their iOS devices, with full external keyboard support or using a software keyboard. The app uses Bonjour and NetBIOS to make setup a cinch, and it features a novel and highly praised "virtual trackpad" that allows to control the mouse cursor intuitively. RemoterFusion, which provides sound redirection and easy setup, RDP, Telnet and SSH support are also included.

Full support for external keyboards and retina level artwork is included, and the app is 100% compatible with the new iPad.

The app offers one of the fastest implementations of the VNC and RDP protocols on the iOS platform. Operation is intuitive, with a well thought out interface that allows users to either tap on the screen and have taps converted into clicks on the remote system, or use a unique "virtual trackpad" that gives users precise control, and ease of use. A drag or stylus mode on the iPad version is also provided, which gives users the ability of easily dragging items, or drawing on their computers directly from their iPad just by using their fingers or a stylus.

On Macs, setup is ultra-simple using the optional RemoterFusion app. Port-forwarding and/or dynamic DNS is no longer needed in order to establish connections from outside the computer's network. This also provides sound redirection, which allows listening to music tracks, or any sound playing remotely on the computer from the iOS device. RemoterFusion is included 100% free with Remoter Pro.

Otherwise, local session set-up is still simple, all the computers from the WiFi network are found using both the Bonjour and NetBIOS standards. The user then taps on the desired connection, and all queried information such as computer name, IP address, service port, and more auto-populates the set-up screen. The user then only needs to enter the VNC password to complete setup. A button labeled "Advanced" reveals many useful advanced options, like color depth, server scaling setting, compression level and more.

The RDP support allows connecting to Windows computers that include an RDP server (Remote Desktop Protocol). This allows connecting to these machines without having to install a server, as is the case with VNC. Even the new Windows 8 Consumer Preview is supported!

Via the SSH function, the app allows users to establish secure and tunneled VNC, or RDP connections to their computer desktop. This also gives users the ability of establishing terminal connections to any SSH server. Featuring full terminal control, including special keys such as Control, Alt, F1-F14. Terminal support implements font foreground and background color, a terminal buffer, and clicking. SSH authentication includes both passwords and private/public key support. A fully featured SSH Key manager allows users to create SSH keys using RSA or DSA. Passphrases can also be set, and independent SSH keys can be used for each SSH session.

Remoter Pro gives users the ability of create up to five TCP tunnels (via SSH). The tunnels can then be accessed while the app is in the background by any other app on the iOS device. Providing a VPN connection to the SSH server. Background connections can stay active for a full ten minutes.

The Telnet function enables users to connect to server computers using the Telnet protocol. Like with SSH, the app provides full color support, a terminal buffer, and special keys.

Both SSH and Telnet allow for selection of text which is then synchronized with the device's pasteboard, and can then be pasted within the application, or into any other app.

The app features a connection selection interface that is controlled by swiping on the iOS device to graphically select the desired connection. On the iPad, a wholly new interface, which features a grid of servers that can be filtered is presented. A "Session Selection" screen is also available. This option presents a list view of all available connections. Sessions can be sorted by name, type or usage.

Wake-on-LAN support is also built-in, when the server session is setup using Bonjour or NetBIOS, the MAC address is automatically populated. Otherwise the field is provided to allow the user to populate it manually. Wake-on-LAN can then be sent either from the main screen of the app, or via the session selection screen.

Macros can also be created and run. Macro support is included for VNC, RDP, SSH and Telnet sessions, and a Macros manager allows for renaming and deleting of existing macros.

The app is extremely configurable, in the "Remoter Config" screen users can select from a variety of options to best suit their needs. Options such as trackpad type and acceleration, visual clicks, international keyboard support for OS X are included.

While connected to a server, the app supports both landscape and portrait mode, full-screen mode, different pre-set zoom levels, along with a smooth pinch-to-zoom interface. Pasteboard synchronization is also supported for all connection modes. Full external keyboard support, either USB or Bluetooth is also provided.

Staten Island, New York - Independent developer Patrick Gallagher today releases the game 'The Dead Hop' version 1.0.02 for iOS devices. This is the initial release of the full version. The Free version (The Dead Hop Free) has been available for more than a month.

You find yourself weak and alone in a shattered world, with no memory of who you are and how you got there. The words of a dying man set you on a path to confront the spread of an undead menace, stop the plans of a dangerous enemy and discover the truth of who you really are. Following a trail of destruction, you will confront bandits, twisted animals, powerful creatures of the dead and a deadly nemesis. All the while, growing in power and skill to free a world from the grip of terror.

'The Dead Hop' is a Strategic Role-Playing game where you develop your Character by earning Skill Points from the completion of both Quest and Random Missions.
