Thanks, Ken. I will make those changes to my Gmail account online, and see how Mail works with Gmail. I want to give it some time to see if that clears up all the duplicates, confusion, deletions reappearing, etc.

Regards,

Lou

Six months ago I had to dismantle and clean the scroll pinions of a
wired Apple Mouse due to cat hair build-up (see pic at
http://yhoo.it/vsm7yq).

Now it's happened again and I don't want that fiddly job of
dismantling and cleaning again.

So I'm thinking of buying a (wireless) Magic Mouse - but living in La
France Profonde I can't pop into my local Apple Store to try before I
buy.

The user opinions on the Mac Store are a mixed bag of "hate" and
"love" the Magic Mouse.

I use a mouse as a supplementary input device to a Magic Trackpad.

What do members think of the Magic Mouse and is it a useful companion
to the Trackpad?

ATM I'm using an ancient Logitech optical mouse borrowed from my
discarded Windoze PC.

Oh, and the cats must stay…

regards,
Ian

Put me in the close to hate category. I use it on my new iMac with Lion only because it came with the machine, but am using a Gear Head optical mouse ($10 at Microcenter in Orange County, CA) on my new late 2011 MacBookPro.

In my opinion, the $60 price tag for the Mighty Mouse is grossly inflated for what you get.

I'm one of the lovers. I have one at work as well as at home. I think it's the best mouse ever sold. It's efficient, easy to use, highly programmable, doesn't fatigue the hand, and has a very quick learning curve.

I have two here - I find it much easier to use on the laptop than the trackpad.

Only comment I would make is that thay can seem a bit too sensitive at times. Otherwise best mouse I've had.

Also bought the Mobee charger plate and a spare battery pack, so they are kept fully charged at all times..

I can echo Les' statements. I've had most of the Apple and one Kingston
mice in the times between 1986 and now, and love my mid-1911 iMac wireless
mouse best of all.
Problem is, it eats batteries. I do NOT turn it off between sessions. But
then, neither do I turn the keyboard off, and it stays at 100% for a LONG
time.

Anyhow, I still love the wireless mouse...

PC Win7 to MtLion MBA.

I'm working on setting up my new MBA for iTunes use but running into
roadblocks & hoping y'all here can help me out.

I got a MacbookAir to use (mostly) as an entertainment center, to sync with
my various mobile devices.

I used the Migration Assistant to copy over from my PC to MBA. Followed the
directions, gave it plenty of time (400GB or so, took a couple of days over
ethernet, it's practically choking -- something will have to go elsewhere!)

I thought it would put everything in my iTunes library but it didn't --
things are on the hard drive but now am I supposed to import everything into
iTunes? How can I get all my playlists, play count, etc. information -- is
there a file I need to import & if so how? where to?

But the *one* thing I wanted to do was transfer all my iTunes library &
information & use the MBA to sync my devices to -- and it doesn't seem to
have done anything but spend 40+ hours copying the files, not putting them
in the library, etc.

It seems to have put everything into "Shared" under "MyName's Library"
instead of the regular Library section. How do I get them "up" where they
belong?? Who am I sharing this with? (I haven't yet checked "share library"
in prefs.)

Now what am I supposed to do??

I *really* **really** don't want to have to figure out how to import things,
not end up with duplicates on the hard drive (which doesn't have room
anyway), and rebuild all my playlists; I could live without the old
play-counts -- it's only lately I've started to use them so I'd like to keep
them now -- unlike previous computer-migrations where I have done all this
work.

thanks for your help.
If I sound frazzled & confused, IT'S BECAUSE I AM!

If I am on a page (say, Google News) and click on a link to an item, a new page opens for that story (say LA Times article on Olympics). However, I can no longer go back one page to Google News -- I have to shut down/reopen Safari to get back to Google News.

I used to be able to go backwards ... what's changed and how do I fix?

Thanks for your help,
