Develop on an iPad, Sell on the App Store with techBASIC App Builder - Published on 01/14/13

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Albuquerque-based developer, ByteWorks, Inc. today announces techBASIC App Builder, giving iOS App Developers the ability to write a program in techBASIC on the iPhone or iPad, compile it under Xcode with the techBASIC App Builder, and sell it on the App Store. techBASIC's technical computing environment makes it easy to create apps with interactive graphics, access internal sensors, and connect to external devices with Bluetooth low energy.

Albuquerque, New Mexico - Byte Works, Inc., today is pleased to announce the release of techBASIC App Builder(TM), giving iOS App Developers the ability to write a program in techBASIC on the iPhone or iPad, compile it under Xcode with the techBASIC App Builder, and sell it on the App Store.

The ability to write an app for the iPhone or iPad in BASIC opens up iOS app development to a brand new audience. Not only is the learning curve for Objective C gone, but programs that took hundreds of lines of code and multiple classes to write in Objective C can be written in just a few dozen lines of code in techBASIC.

"Now, for the first time, current and new App Developers can write powerful and fun apps on their iPhone or iPad in BASIC, then compile them on a Mac and distribute them as standard apps," said Mike Westerfield, president of Byte Works.

techBASIC's technical computing environment makes it easy to create apps with interactive graphics, access internal sensors, and connect to external devices with Bluetooth low energy. techBASIC also includes built-in calls making it easy to create apps with all of the standard iOS controls.

techBASIC App Builder takes techBASIC programs written on iOS and converts them into fully functional stand-alone apps, enabling developers to write apps without using Objective C.

Once created, these apps can be distributed just like any other app. They can be submitted to the App Store as free or paid apps, or distributed using ad hoc distribution to any iPhone or iPad. The end product is an app that is indistinguishable from apps written in Objective C.

The benefit for the app developer is the ability to take advantage of the powerful technical computing capabilities built into techBASIC, while writing programs in the easy to use and familiar BASIC language. Development time and cost are decreased so products will be available for distribution on the App store sooner.

techBASIC:
Requirements: iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 5 or later
Pricing and Availability: $14.99 (USD) available in the App Store Utilities category.

techBASIC App Builder:
Requirements: Xcode running on a Mac. Apps require iOS 5 or higher.
Pricing and Availability: $49 (USD) on the Byte Works website.

Use Your Phone to Get the Lowest Retail Prices with TheFind Apps - Published on 01/14/13

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

To make it easy for consumers, TheFind has added a price-match feature to its popular iPhone and Android app, TheFind: Shopping. A shopper can simply scan a barcode for a product and instantly see if it is eligible for price matching at Target, Best Buy and others. Additionally, people can also choose to "Price Watch" specific items, in which case they will receive an alert automatically should that product go on sale at another retailer.

San Francisco, California - This past holiday season saw a number of brick and mortar retailers, including Target and Best Buy, offering to match online prices of some of their largest competitors, such as Amazon. Restrictions of course applied, but based on their experience in December, some of those retailers have chosen to extend their price-matching policies year round.

To make it easy for consumers, TheFind has added a price-match feature to its popular iPhone and Android app, TheFind: Shopping. A shopper can simply scan a barcode for a product and instantly see if it is eligible for price matching at Target, Best Buy and others. Additionally, people can also choose to "Price Watch" specific items, in which case they will receive an alert automatically should that product go on sale at another retailer

"Depending on what you're shopping for, there are savings on items that range from a few bucks to several hundred dollars that are eligible for price matching at leading retailers," said Ramneek Bhasin, VP and GM of Mobile at TheFind. "The catch is, it's often hard to discern which products and online stores qualify for price-matching, and that's exactly the problem we've solved. Consumers don't need to do anything other than scan what they're looking for, and we make it obvious if it's eligible for price matching. All the detail a shopper needs to take advantage of the price-match offer is one click away, all while they're in the store and ready to buy."

TheFind: Shopping has been downloaded more than 1 million times and the updated app is currently available in the iTunes app store and Google Play.

Concurrently, TheFind also released iPhone and Android versions of its popular discovery-shopping app Glimpse. Whereas TheFind Mobile app and TheFind.com website excel at producing a comprehensive set of search results that are ideal for when you know exactly what you're shopping for, Glimpse is meant to occupy people in those moments when they "just want to shop" or browse.

Fully integrated with your Facebook profile, Glimpse is instantly personalized to show you items from stores and brands you and your friends have previously liked, in addition to items you would appreciate because "people like you" have Liked them on Facebook. Launched in July 2012, Glimpse already has over 1 million users. The smartphone version of Glimpse makes it easy to browse store and user-created catalogs, upload your own images of products into catalogs you create, and to simply browse the most Liked items according to your tastes and preferences.

Glimpse by TheFind and TheFind: Shopping are available for immediate download in the iTunes app store as well as Google Play. Glimpse by TheFind is also accessible as a Facebook app.

TheFind's patented search, browse and discovery technology is expanding the eCommerce landscape through social, mobile and tablet commerce innovations. These include the Facebook timeline app Glimpse by TheFind, TheFind Mobile barcode scanning app for smartphones, the popular tablet app Catalogue by TheFind, along with the comprehensive shopping search engine, TheFind.com. Ranked number 12 on the 2010 Inc. 500 list of fastest growing private companies, TheFind was founded in 2005, venture funded by Bain Capital Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Redpoint Ventures and is a San Francisco and Silicon Valley-based company. When it comes to learning Music Theory the question by many self taught musicians is whether or not the study is relevant in today's entertainment industry? Often it's true that to get anywhere in life it's not what you know, but who you know, however even for those who are well connected, eventually you must come clean and show what you've got. The entertainment industry is full of wannabes. And with more talent based reality shows popping up on our screens, it all looks too easy to shine like a star.

The truth is that true stars are made of star material. Stars are achievement driven. They are self disciplined. Stars adapt and overcome. In other words, they are problem solvers. And they are influential as leaders in their field. Studying Music Theory, with an application like Music Theory and Practice develops star qualities in all musicians.

The development team at Musicopoulos believe that if you want to be successful in the music business or entertainment industry as a whole, you must know what you are talking about. You must be the "real deal". Music Theory and Practice by Musicopoulos is a fully structured course for learning Music Theory and putting it all into Practice, using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Music Theory and Practice by Musicopoulos has received exceptional reviews since the apps first release back in 2009. This update has addressed many of the loyal users feedback and suggestions:

* Music Theory Practice - It was good before. It is now excellent with the latest update. Good to see the developer adding content and re-coding the app.

* Best music theory app!! - This has all the beginning basics of music theory, all in an easy, compact way of teaching and learning with complete drills!! Best music theory app out! Update: thank god... Finally we get a bit further into music and still very comprehensive, thanks for listening to the customers!!!

* Best Music Theory App - Highly recommended. A good comprehensive and easy to learn guide to music theory.
Source - iTunes ratings and reviews

In summary, Music Theory and Practice by Musicopoulos is not a quick fix solution to learning everything there is to know about Music Theory overnight. It is however, designed to be the most powerful tool for musicians to enhance their knowledge of scales, harmony and much, much more by using their Apple iOS devices. With a little self discipline, this app promises to deliver a strong musical foundation for all musicians to grow.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 38.8 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Music Theory and Practice by Musicopoulos 2.0 is $4.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Music category. Revere, Massachusetts - Indie developer James Hollender is offering a Free MacWorld/iWorld Exhibit Hall pass (January 31st - Feb 2nd in San Francisco, CA) to the first 50 purchasers of either Full version of his Life Inventory apps starting Jan 14. The Exhibit Hall Pass is normally $10.00. The iPad and iPhone versions are Lifestyle apps that guide users in creating their own Life Inventory, which can provide greater self understanding of personality, strengths and weaknesses leading to a better quality of life at a small fraction the cost of a single visit to a therapist.

The first 50 purchasers will be determined by the order in which the email receipt for their purchase from Apple is forwarded to and received by the developer. See instructions at the end for obtaining the developer's email address.

This will be your chance to meet with James Hollender, the developer of the Life Inventory apps, at MacWorld/iWorld where he will be highlighting both Life Inventory and his new iNutrients app, soon to be released. The iNutrients app will quickly provide access to over 8,000 foods in the USDA National Nutrient Database, showing Calories, Carbohydrates, Cholesterol, Fiber, Proteins, Saturated Fat, Sodium, Sugars, and Vitamin K contents in food servings.

The process of completing a Life Inventory does not directly address anyone's specific problems, habits or addictions, but rather helps the user examine in detail events that have transpired in their life. The Life Inventory apps gently assists the user in probing into not only what happened, but also why it happened. The questions asked help the user delve into areas often never considered before, like:

* What did I want?
* Why did I want it?
* What am I not admitting?
* What lie did I tell myself?
* What did I leave out or not say?
* What lie did I tell others?
* Have I ever done the same thing?
* Was it any of my business?
* Were my expectations reasonable?
* What was the real truth?
* What was I not seeing?
* Did I fail to see the facts of the situation?
* What actions did I take to get what I wanted?
* What actions did I omit to get what I wanted?

Life Inventory guides the user through six different steps, each with its own activity grouping, for making a Life Inventory:

* Build Lists
* Causes and Effects
* My Part
* Fears Analysis
* Fear Questions
* Sex Relations

Throughout the process, users are encouraged to enter data into their Inventory, be completely honest about themselves and take advantage of encouragement and support.

The Inventory begins by making one simple list, which defines four fixed Categories in which to file away what are broadly categorized as Incidents:

* People
* Institutions and Organizations
* Principles, Ideals and Beliefs
* Sources of Anxiety and Excitement

Each of the four Categories will contain hierarchical sub-categories. From there, users outline Entities and then individual Incidents related each Entity.

Step-by-step, users complete the Causes and Effects of each Incident. Next, users determine the part they played in each Incident listed. It is not unusual to create hundreds of Incident forms, each devoted to a single incident. The app includes the ability to create and save all written lists and forms with password protection. Having completed all their Incident forms, users can refer to these forms to help list all their Fears. The app includes the following eight pre-defined fears, to which the user is free to add:

* Other people's opinions
* Not getting what I want
* Not having control of the situation
* Financial insecurity
* Abandonment
* Physical harm
* Failure
* Success

The fifth step is examining each Fear category and answering the following key questions:

* Why did I have this fear?
* When did I first notice this fear in my life?
* How did I hold on to this fear?
* What did this fear make me do?
* What chain of circumstances did this fear set in motion in my life?
* How did I react to this fear?
* What decision did this fear cause me to make?
* How did self-reliance fail me?
* What should I have done instead?

And the sixth and final step is examining Sex Relations, where users answer all the following questions regarding each of their sexual relationships:

* How was I selfish?
* Where was I dishonest?
* Where was I inconsiderate?
* Who was hurt in this situation?
* Did I arouse jealousy, suspicion, or bitterness?
* Where was I at fault?
* What should I have done instead?
* What will I do in the future?
* Did I pray or have spiritual conversations with him/her?
* Did I pray for him/her?
* Did I enjoy his/her company?
* Did we bring each other closer to God?

"The process of completing a Life Inventory doesn't directly address anyone's specific problems, habits or addictions, but rather helps the user examine in detail events that have transpired in their life," stated indie developer James Hollender. "The Life Inventory app gently assists the user in probing into not only what happened, but also why it happened."

James Hollender is also the author of a suite of Nutrient apps based on the USDA National Nutrient Database:

* iCarbs (Carbohydrates)
* iCholesterol (Dietary Cholesterol)

App Tamer 1.3.2 Adds Retina Support and Background Scrolling - Published on 01/14/13

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

St. Clair Software today announces App Tamer 1.3.2, an update to their Macintosh utility that automatically pauses applications to improve battery life and reduce CPU usage. App Tamer's AutoStop capability automatically pauses applications when you switch away from them, and then restarts them when you click back to them. The new version of App Tamer offers support for Retina Displays, as well as restarting background applications when you scroll their windows using a gesture or scroll-wheel.

Denver, Colorado - St. Clair Software today is happy to announce an update to App Tamer, its Macintosh utility that automatically pauses applications to improve battery life and reduce CPU usage. Praised by both users and the press for its sophistication and ease of use, App Tamer makes it easy to conserve battery and CPU power. This update adds support for Retina Displays and restarts background applications in response to gestures or scroll-wheel activity in their windows, allowing you to scroll background windows without activating a stopped application. This release also corrects several bugs in the previous version of App Tamer.

About App Tamer:
Some Mac applications, especially web browsers, continue running tasks or animations even when they're supposed to be idle in the background. This can consume valuable processing power and reduce battery life. App Tamer's unique AutoStop capability automatically pauses these applications when you switch away from them, and then restarts them when you click back to them. This frees your CPU and reduces power consumption.

App Tamer 1.3.2 includes these changes:
* Added Retina display support.
* App Tamer now wakes up applications for scroll wheel and gesture scrolling even when they're in the background.
* Applications wake up when the display configuration changes so they can switch window configurations if necessary.
* Errors were fixed that caused warning messages in the Console under some circumstances.
* Fixed bugs in handling the consequences of high CPU load.

System Requirements:
* Mac OS X 10.5.8 through 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

Pricing and Availability:
App Tamer 1.3.2 is a free update for registered users. It is $14.95 (USD) for Mac users who have not purchased it yet. Please see the St. Clair Software web site for a full change log, additional feature information and a free 15 day demo.
