The latest Adobe CS is what I use. I loved PageMaker but there is an PageMaker plug in fir InDesign. There might be a Quark plug in too.

Is there a way to create a default subject for new email messages? So when you create a new message the subject can automatically say something like, "Hello from Steve"?

Thanks in advance.

I bet there is, if you don't mind really rolling up your sleeves. But please think about this very carefully first, unless you want an awful lot of your emails to head straight for the recipients' trash.

I hope not.

Sure...use Automator or AppleScript to create a new message with the subject and/or some text already filled in. You can even select a default recipient if. You wish. I upload large images to Dropbox and send emails regularly using an Automator routine. I choose to leave the message open before sending so I can tailor it as I desire.

The first-two respondents have got it correct, Steve.

If youre that lacking in imagination that you want to cookiecutter your Subject messages, then my guess is that the contents wont be much better.

Work on expanding your vocabulary, not contracting it.

I don't know about the subject line, but recent versions of Mail can
use templates/stationary, and you can make your own templates:

http://gigaom.com/apple/how-to-create-edit-your-own-mail-stationery/

stationary-in-apples-mail-app/

The answer depends on which email program you want to use.

Since there are 20 or 30 email programs lurking around it's a good
piece of info to provide with a message.

If you are using Apple's Mail program, you need to explore the feature
called Stationary.

Apple's Mail comes with several Stationary templates pre designed and
ready to use. You can also create you own Stationary.

On the Toolbar in Apple's Mail program, (I have the Lion version of
Mail 5.2), there is an icon at the top far right. Looks like a small
square black box with dots in it.

This is the Stationary icon.

Click the new mail message. Then click the Stationary icon.

You will get a panel that appears below the From and Signature text
boxes that lists your Stationary. The categories are on the left.

The last category is Custom.

If you create your own Stationary, then it appears in the Custom
section.

Click one of the Stationary templates and WHAP! it appears and you are
ready to type a message.

If you create your custom stationary and add text to the Subject line
it remembers it and the Stationary file includes it.

Good Luck!

Since I realized that it's possible to sync my Apple Wireless keyboard to my iPhone 4s, I'm using my iPhone 4s as a writing platform while I'm out and about. The whole rig is much smaller and lighter than lugging around my MacBook with it's aging battery...

Originally I was doing most of my iPhone writing on the iPhone 'Note' app, and it was fairly simple to email myself notes created during the day, and transfer the text to Word later in the day.

Then I discovered that I like the simplicity of the 'iA Writer' iPhone app, and I've decided to use it as my main writing tool. I also have iA Writer for Mac on my MacBook which is currently running Snow Leopard.

I'd like to be able to easily move documents in iA Writer from my iPhone, to iA Writer on my MacBook, so that each version of the app is in sync with the other, but can't seem to do that.

I'm a latecomer to the whole 'Cloud' thing, and am confused about whether my MacBook running Snow Leopard can function with Cloud. My 4s is set to back up to Cloud, but when I check the Apple site, it tells me that I have to use Cloud on my MacBook, I need to be running Lion OS.

The Apple site appears to be only offering Mountain Lion at this time. I can get Lion on a memory stick from Amazon for $99, but I'm hoping someone else still offering Lion as a download for $29 somewhere...

I was thinking I should just upgrade to Mountain Lion - except that Apple's list of Mac's it supports for that upgrade doesn't include my MacBook 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (with 4 GB ram).

Of course I can still email the iA Writer docs and copy them to Word, or even my Mac's iA Writer app, but if there's a more seamless way to sync between the platforms, I'd definitely prefer that way.

I'd appreciate hearing any thoughts & advice folks might have.

When you sync you iPhone with iTunes, does iA Writer give you a file sync
function like some other apps do?

At apple.com the Lion Thumb Drive is $69.

Thank you to those who answered, but I need more help. I tried what you said, and opened iTunes on the Mac. When I tried opening iTunes on the iPad, it went to "Loading..." with the little turning thing. This has gone on for more than 20 minutes now. iTunes on the Mac said it was done syncing with the iPad so I ejected the iPad. It's still "Loading." What do I do? adTHANKSvance!

And that site is directing you elsewhere around the world. I tried the Malay site and I passed.

And you know, the more I think about it, Windows software was 'infected' by this malware long before OS X.

I had to wipe 2 Win installs about 6 months ago or so that had redirector infections!

We didn't hear about that one did we! :)

That's really a separate issue. What I'm saying is, does anyone have
an indication of how easy it will be to replace a hard drive on
future Macs?
