Presuming you used Safari:
Look in Safari Preferences -- General -- "Save downloaded files to:"

The Safari preferences sends it to the downloads folder and there is nothing but a .pdf called 'about downloads' in that folder.

After I download, the next screen at Apple confirms and thanks me for my download.

I'm stuck with !@#$# Hughes Net until they get around to running DSL to my house.
I've been stuck with it 2 years now.

I've tried downloading iTunes four times now and still nothing.

Any suggestions?
Thanks yet again,
Carrie

Good. This model *can* do Lion/10.7
Not that you should go there yet, but also it can use the most current version of Snow Leopard (namely 10.6.8)

Huh.
I don't understand that.

You can do a Spotlight search for it. Search for either ".dmg" or for "created date is within the last 1 day". Or both.

Does running Software Update from the Apple Menu show iTunes as a choice?

I tried that and no .dmg files. I also just tried "created date is within the last 1 day" and still nothing.

I've tried downloading it a few more times and still nothing. Do I have to get rid of my iTunes 9 first and if so, how?

I guess I have to wait until midnight and update OSX?

Thanks,
Carrie

If I clean install back to OSX 10.5.4 (what my start up disk say), what will it take to get back to 10.6.3? Is is alot of updates or is it a purchase?

Thanks,
Carrie

Frm 10.5.x to 10.6.x is a paid upgrade. Maybe you can get a free copy of 10.6 from Apple if your intent is to go to Lion. Somehow or other, I ended up with an unexpected free copy of Snow Leopard (10.6) last week.

Oh, I see that is only for former MobileMe subscribers. Still, Snow Leopard was only $29.

This is making no sense. I would alter the download destination to Desktop
and try again. You should then *see* what is happening: the
iTunes10.6.3.dmg file will appear on the Desktop. Note that it is 170 MB so
it will take a while to complete if you have a slow connection. Are you
getting it from
<http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1426?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US>
?
You don't need to delete iTunes 9 first.

What do you see if you run Software Update (you don't have to action the
download/install, just see what it lists)?

Let me add that the instructions you found to do this not only required
absolute precision in carrying them out but also suggested probably the
most dangerous and error-probe method possible. Make a typo or press <send>
before you should and havoc might ensue.

It is *much* safer to call the cd command first, confirm where you are,
then call rm.

It backs up *everything*, essentially.

All your hard drive, initially, excepting what you have specifically excluded.
Then, every hour, only what has changed during that hour.

I run Time Machine backups continually, and keep 2 bootable clone backups as well.

How do you make a bootable clone on Snow Leopard?

SuperDuper!
<http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html>
or
CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner)
<http://www.bombich.com/index.html>

They're probably equally good; I prefer the interface of SuperDuper!

I agree, but you can trial the full version of CCC for free whereas you
can't with SD, IOW you can run CCC as long as you like, and then donate
when you're happy with it.

After some research, downloading my old Quicken 2005 to my 'new' Mac Mini seems like a bad idea. After more research, buying Quicken 2007 seems like a bad idea.

What "Personal Finance" type application on Mac is everyone using these days?

Thanks,
Carrie

Lots of folks have become fed up with Intuit, but there is no
consensus on which alternative program is "best." Here are the ones
that have been most popular (I've included each program's analogous
iOS app if there is one):

SEE Finance $30

(I'm told that this program does a particularly good job of importing
data from Quicken.)
