Also, I get the same problem when I eject a disk. The disk ejects but the screen freezes until I relaunch the Finder.

Ever since I updated to Mountain Lion, I'm having to relaunch the Finder anytime I close or save a document or eject a disk. All I get is the endlessly spinning beach ball. After I relaunch, the problem is resolved until I open another file. Facebook, mail, safari, etc. seems to be all right. I am using Adobe CS4 and every app in that is also affected; many times having to relaunch the Finder and force-quit the CS4 apps to get things going again. I'm using a 20" iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB SDRAM. Before the Mountain Lion upgrade, everything was working fine. I've restarted many times. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Run Onyx completely. Reboot, if still an issue, reinstall lion. I just think 2 gigs of RAm is too small for Lion or CS4. But that is my opinion and $4 will buy a latte. :)

I run CS4 on Mountain Lion with no problem. I think the ram is way to low. I have 16 gigs so I can run those programs without problems. I am not a real tech expert here but I would recommend the Genius bar to check and get RAM either way as it must run very slow even if you were not having this problem. Have you tried using the Activity Monitor to see what the computer is using? That is how I determined I needed more than 8 GIGs of RAM.

Howdy.

OnyX is a free Mac OS X maintenance and customize utility.

It's done by a French company and has English and French versions.

You can find it at MacUpdate and download it.

OnyX can do a whole slew of things like major cache cleaning/clearing
of all kinds of caches. It also has maintenance routines for all
kinds of things. Most of these could be done by you if you researched
Terminal commands one by one but OnyX puts them all in a single
utility.

I use it and recommend it.

I have an extraordinary phenomenon. My business partner who works on a PC converted a pdf for me which contains a number of complicated tables. No matter what we do, on certain pages a section of the text disappears when the document is loaded into a Mac. Can anyone explain this?

You can have any number of users with admin rights.

There's actually no such thing as a temp admin user. I just called it that
because it will exist only to perform a specific task and then be deleted
afterwards.

Before upgrading to 10.8.2, I was able to create a new folder and immediately type a name for the folder into the open field - these days I can create a folder BUT I have to click on the blank field again in order to give it a name - where is the system preference for directly typing a new name in the folder field? - thanks!
