Ryan, your suggestion worked perfectly...as usual!!! Thanks so much. I'm about to pose another silly question in a minute if I can think how to compose it LOL.

Try turning the iPod off, after docking it, by pressing and holding the "Menu" part of the "Click-wheel" until it the screen goes dark.
I think it might be the music system's interaction with the iPod that's turning it on.

It doesn't seem to want to turn off. I think its off, but when I attach it to the Altec thingie, The music immediate;y starts playing. I tried a Touch the same way (off) and nothing happened. No music. That is what I want the silly Classic to do. I think that is what it did before and that's why the battery died

My iMac won't let me download this thing. YUK!!
Stats:
iMac 2006 w/OX 10.6.8
iTunes 10.6.3.
iPod4 "Honey"
iPad3 "Zorro"
Ipad Mini "Zorro"
I took all 3 to the Apple Store and the Genius updated them to OS6. Both Zorros were updated through iCloud except for CD recorded music. I completely updated Honey and the iPad (music & all) on my iMac through iTunes 6. When I try to put the music on the Mini Zorro, iTunes tell me I must have iTunes 7 to update and back it up.
Now for my stupid questions.
!. How do I download iTunes 7? When I click on Update in my current iTunes, it tells me 10.6.3. is the current version. When I plug in the Mini, a message tells me I need iTunes 7 and need to download it. When I try to download it, it tells me I have to close iTunes even though it is not open. If I delete the current version, I will lose 1000+ songs.
2. If I do some how get iTunes 7, will I still be able to backup & update
Sweetie (iPad3) and Don Diego (Classic) that can't take OS6?
Sure hope this is long enough,
Euel

Thanks Ryan. I did download iTunes7 and tried to install it yesterday. I kept getting the message that it couldn't install until I closed iTunes. I thought I did everything to close it, but still kept getting the message, Dumb me. I didn't think to restart the Mac. It turned off at night and rebooted this morning. I downloaded again,, Of course, it installed perfectly. So glad to know iTunes 7 recognizes everybody.
Hopefully, I'll leave y'all alone for a while :-).
