The recent release offers a host of new features requested by the user base.
eBook Magic, a book and document creation app, can be used to make a variety of different types of books, photo albums, children's books, etc. It offers an easy workflow for adding pages by choosing a page layout, with simple double-tap for adding photos and text to pages.
With a focus on ease-of-use and not limiting a users options with upfront decisions such as forcing choice of book theme and book size, the app has always contained a unique set of features for making uniform books. iPad users can essentially build their own themes using the unique apply all settings to retrofit customized text, photo and page attributes to the rest of the book with intelligent keep/override logic.
Photos can be added to pages directly from the iPad camera, iPad photo albums, the eBook Magic server, Facebook and Flickr accounts. Photos can be placed inside of text or photo boxes, as well as page backgrounds. Photos apply with a best fit technology, and Pinch-to-Zoom can be used. Text and Photo boxes can have border frames with varying color and width. Content can also have color overlay with % opacity.
For flexibility, users can also change the size of their book at any point, and the book content resizes automatically. The app has 12 real book sizes in inches, including A4 portrait and landscape. The app allows users to print anywhere with exports including PDF, ePub for iBooks, and editable eBook Magic document for sharing.
Version 2.01:
The newest release offers a host of new features aimed at improving workflow and creative control during book creation. eBook Magic offers a balance of semi-automated book making and the ability to completely control page layout. The newest additions compliment this offering while remaining consistent with the praised simplicity of the apps interface design.
Resize & Editing: Users can now edit the page templates, and add or delete text and photo content boxes on the page. An intuitive resize mode has been added so as not to confuse resizing of the content box with the default setting, Pinch-to-Zoom of the photo within the box. This page template editing allows for items to be moved around the page, layer order to be established if overlapped, and can be manipulated by either dragging with fingers or using the Geometry menu to manipulate size and position.
More Export Options: In addition, to book printing accessed directly in the share menu, JPG pages to album, and book printing have now been added. The JPG option automatically sends all of the book pages as individual images to the iPad photo album, so users can quickly export page collages for sharing on Facebook, email, etc.
Book Templates: Version 2.01 introduces the new server hosted book template service. User can now start a book by choosing one of the 20 page templates offered, and can of course completely customize them to their liking.
Auto-Page Creation: In the timeline next to the sign (which chooses a page layout), a new Write icon has been added. Up to 10 photos can be selected at once, and the app will create a page for each photo using the default template of 1 text and 1 photo box. This allows users to quickly add pages to their book.
Custom Color: eBook Magic's unique color palette now has the addition of a custom color button at bottom. Users can make a custom color and the 6 most recent custom colors are stored at the bottom of eBook Magic's color palette for later user.

* Template driven or Auto-page creation

Last year, JustKidsApps brought Heidi to the iPad. This year they decided to completely update the apps - only the beautiful and unique illustrations by Diana Kizlauskas have remained the same. In addition, the Heidi Story Collection was created - an app that combines all 3 apps in one.
"I wanted the apps to be true to the story, good value for money, educational and, extremely important, fun for children," says Katrin Draemann Barothy, founder and owner at JustKidsApps. "I felt we delivered that last year but that we could do even better, so I decided we would update the apps from scratch."
Katrin asked Deanne Shoyer, a blogger and app reviewer, to help her write a new version of the abridged text. "My mother had given me her copy of Heidi when I was a child and I have loved it ever since, so I jumped at the chance to work on this project with Katrin," says Deanne, "we set out to create a version of the story that preserved the themes and characters we both loved but that would also make it interesting and appealing to new readers all over the globe."
The apps now contain the following:
* Two versions of the story. The first is told from Heidi's viewpoint and the text is highlighted when read to support the development of younger children's reading skills
* The second version is longer but also narrated which, together with the illustrations and other extras, is specifically designed to encourage reluctant older readers
* English, German and Swiss-German versions of both stories
* Characters voiced by professional actors
* Interactive elements on every page so children can hear what marmots, goats and birds of prey sound like, for example
* Quizzes so parents and teachers can check reading comprehension
* Information about where Heidi lived as well fun facts about Switzerland
