You really need to know the POP server address, the SMTP server address, the user name, and the password for that account. If you don't have those details, you can't set up the account. I suggest you contact I.T. service at MIT for those details.

Thank you but Yahoo is not my problem. As I said, when I used Eudora I could send mail to anyone and it said "From" botteron@alum.edu ." With Mail it says "From: carol@myisp.com " and I want to change that. If there isn't a way, is there a more cooperative mail program?

Thank you but I don't know why it sends mail "From:" the account I don't want when the only account listed in Preferences is the one I do want. Until I understand that, I'm afraid to mess with it lest I be unable to send mail at all.
I had it all set up properly in Eudora, but now that I have OS 10.7 I can't open Eudora to check the settings. When I got 10.7 I didn't know what I wouldn't be able to use Eudora any more.

Just to be clear, but Eudora allowed you to set up an address, any address,
as a "From" address for an account it knew nothing about? Did it verify it
in any way?
I would try Thunderbird and see what it offers.

I think you'll find Yahoo is the problem. You cannot use any "From" address that is not in the list held on your Yahoo account. I've had the same problem. You're default email address will already be in that list and hence you can use it as a "From" address.

I just ran across this Program called MacOptimizer by MacAppware. Seems there are other Programs that do what this Program claims to do. Nevertheless, just wondering if anyone has any experience with it.
It currently retails for $ 29.00.

Sounds like it just Optimizes your wallet, because there are many free apps that probably do the same thing. The main freebie is Onyx.
Here's a list of no cost system optimizations:
http://lowendmac.com/eubanks/07/0312.html
People will argue w me about iDefrag, but I love it. I can actually watch my files defragment while the disk is optimized, but it costs a small amount.

It's a replacement DVD? Their cost is cost is the DVD ($0.10?) & FedEx
($10?) - that' a 70% markup :)
In all seriousness it's a good value when you add in the labor and
infrestructure but you'll find similar from most computer manufactures.
