I have all in one printer Canon which I use for printing and for coping. I have a separate dedicated Canon scanner 5600F for photo and slide scanning. I am using Mtn L OS.

Perhaps this was a few years ago. After wasting several thousand dollars on Epson products I do not recumbent them. Terrible support including Seiko products which is the same company.

Thanks for all your help. The advice in the link below is what worked on my laser printer. I'll now try it with my inkjet scanner to see how that works.

For the record, I bought Epsons years ago and didn't really like them.

In my research, I also came across this little device http://www.printercomparison.com/default.asp?newsID=1244&review=samsung+ml2955dw It seems quite good, from what I've read.

No, nothing that I know of that would have caused it. But unplugging Airport was what seems to have done the trick.

Patti,

A copier is a scanner and a printer. In other words, it first scans the image and then prints it. A multifunction machine just has the ability to stop a different stages of the process or accept input from another device (printer function). In other words, instead of taking the image from the scanner portion, it accepts the image from a computer.

When printing:
- if the image comes from the computer, then it is called a Printer.
- if the image comes from the scanner, then it is called a Copier.
- if the image comes from the fax modem, then it is called a Fax Machine.

If the image goes from the scanner to the computer, then it is called a Scanner.

Fax is the only function that takes more hardware and software to do. And this is relatively cheap.

For this reason, you will not find a copier / printer only combination.

Hey, Dan,

Do you know of any good laser printers that are also copiers but not multifunction in any other regard? I need a good printer/copier but can't seem to find that combination without getting the scanner/fax machine included too.

Funny, my first impression when scanning the article on the Samsung ML2995dw is that I was looking at a HP Laserwriter, only the paper drawer is slightly different and the controls are on the right side.

I'd still be using my HP LW 630, if I could communicate with it. But then Apple dropped AppleTalk and the drivers have not been updated by HP in 10 years. I could conceivably still be using it, if I could find and would spring for a rare $600+ adapter. It would have been a crippled driver, with only a minimum of the functions the original drivers. HP has been slow about releasing new drivers as the OS changes.

When I bought a HP P1006 Laserwriter, Macs were and were not being supported. I had to hack an install of the drivers to make it work.

For my home use, since I don't print photos, I prefer a laser printer, over the hassles of a ink jet. For the rare color print I might truly need. I either take it in to work, or to Kinkos, oops, I mean the FedEx store.

IMO, HP is shooting themselves in the foot, by not providing good drivers for Mac users, in a timely manner. Yes, they no longer make the bullet-proof hardware they used to, but they have also lowered the prices, so you can buy a laser printer for $100, instead of $1000.

Hi all,

I'm bravely starting a diet and exercise and nutrition program and my trainer has "suggested" I adhere to certain daily calorie, protein, fat and carb counts. Is there any Mac software that makes this easier than the old notebook method? I'm sure there is - which is best?

T, beat me to is. I would look for an app for the iPhone or iPad. There are bunches out there, find the one that meets your needs. I tended towards the Livestrong app, as it met my needs best. (Yes, he has fallen from favor, but the app filled my needs best.)

They all have issues, just find the one with the best nutritional information for you.

Hi!

"Spark People" (google it) has a very well-developed and well-organized program for dieters. It has a lot of nutritional data and keeps track of your day-by-day calorie, protein, etc. intake.

Give it a try!

I found CalorieKing Diet & Exercise Manager to be the absolute best out there. I have used it for years and would not be without it.

Howdy.

I've used a very good "system" called My Fitness Pal.

<http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/learn_more>

My Fitness Pal is free.

You can use it to track all kinds of things like individual foods,
meals, restaurant meals, calories, fats, goals, weight, salt, vitamin
and nutrition.

My Fitness Pal can be done via the web site, via an iPhone app, via an
iPad app, or other apps.

Enter something on the web site and it syncs with the apps, too.

It has a huge global database of things such as a MacDonalds hamburger
and will fill in all the pertinent info for you. As people add foods,
grocery store things, restaurant meals, it adds to the database.

I'm trying to install theTwitter app through the app store running 10.6.8 and even after permission repair I still get the error, "NSInternalInconsistencyException" and can cancel or retry. Retry brings up the same error.
The best sounding advice I've read for this error is to re-install the combo update for the OS I'm running, but that seems a bit drastic. Anyone else found a better cure for this error before I try re-installing the OS?
Thanks!
