I have had no problems running Mountain Lion on my iMac & my MacBook Air. My daughter is also running it on a 4 year old MBP.

I searched Google for any issues related to NSInternalInconsis tencyException.
Most deal w trying to download from the Apple Store, THROUGH their firewall, or some firewall where they are trying to download from. Their solution was to find firewall free access. If you use a firewall, open it only for the download. But that is all I could find. jr

Thanks. I forgot seeing that post and to try that!

So I turned off the firewall in the system prefs today to do the download but it still gives the same error. It's odd that I have few issues downloading here and the one time I want to use the app store it poops out on me.
Fortunately having the twitter app on my comp isn't that important. Also Twitter is reported to be pulling this app for some reason. http://tinyurl.com/9h9jb9f

For an academic exercise I tried to download a free app in the app store to verify that it even works at all. The app installed w/no issues with the FW ON. I now have the free version of Learn Lightroom 4, yippee.

If anyone cares to try and download the Twitter app (free) I'd be curious if it fails them as well. Comments on the app, i.e. general whining, date from Nov. 4 so SOMEONE has been able to get it recently.

Howdy.

Word care please.

Bob is right about older Epson printers. I had an Epson C-80 that would
clog if if the cat looked at it from across the room.

But it is also something that was fixed years ago by Epson.

Epson was one of the early pioneers in inexpensive ink jet printing.

They did a combo of new inexpensive ink jet printing, fast ink jet
printing, and a variety of their own and 3rd party options.

Also a pioneer in using special inks and making printers with both dye
based inks (maybe better color but prone to fade and smear over time)
and pigmented inks (no smearing and much longer life with no fading).

Epson also made a lot of printers and 3rd party speciality companies
made special inks for them, made CIS (Continuous Inking Systems) for
them, made PostScript RIPS for them that ran as software on your Mac,
and made special color calibration efforts.

You should see one of those CIS things. Big exterior bottles of ink
with long tubes leading into the printer. Some of them are designed to
print and print for hours on end without having to swap out cartridges
and print heads.

I had a C-80. Been 5-6 years or more since I had an Epson printer. The first color I had which was in 1990 was a Seiko - which came before ink jets. IT installed it in my office. I seldom used it - it was a film type. Worked on principle of a typewriter ribbon. Had four films which in sequence came over the paper. Noisy thing. Cost $1200. Our organization had thousands of printers which were all networked. Mine would occasionally come on if someone printed on it. If I wrote a memo I could print it on a printer in Paris - I was based in NJ. Company had a dedicated phone cable connection to Europe.

First digital camera I had was an Epson - big big mistake - they got out that business early and offered no further support. Similarly I have had terrible experience with Seiko watches in repair. Same company. Vowed thereafter never deal with Seiko/Epson.

Glad they fixed it, but reputations take a while to repair. I bought a new scanner today and went with Canon :-)

All:

I have a problem with ical and my ical account. I recently upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.7 (and then did all the upgrades) specifically to be able to use icloud.

I then synced my iphone (4S with the latest iOS) to my computer using the cloud. Unfortunately, my calendar now has anywhere from one to four of each event on both my phone and computer.

My first instinct was to use time machine to "go back" to sometime in the past and dump 10.7. I called Apple Tech Support who kicked me over to a senior advisor who after approximately 90 minutes on the phone punted to " a specialist" who will call me next week.

In the meantime I manually went through about 14 years of calendar events on my MB Pro and removed all redundant events. This took a while.

I then wanted to sync the phone to the computer but am unsure how I can do do without replicating all the redundant dates from my iphone back onto my computer. Secondly, when I try to sync not using icloud (by setting my preferences to turn off calendars in icloud) I am advised with a warning that all data on my computer (calendars, contacts etc.) will be erased from the computer.

So, while hoping I will hear sometime "next week" from the Apple Specialist, I wondered if anyone on this group has been through this latest upgrade version of icloud Hell and has at least a Purgatory option that will get me out of this mess.

As you can imagine, I am having serious buyers regrets for ever leaving good old 10.6.8 and going to the cloud.

I donate what I think would be the going rate for a comparable
shareware program.

I've donated $10-$25 depending on how "big" the program is (how extensive,
how much it does, etc.) &/or how much of a problem it solves for me --
especially if it's something I've *really been needing* & been
working-around-doing-without. I'm on a PC, not a Mac, but I think the
principle's the same.
Sometimes the developer suggests a $level.

The Comcast service comes into a Motorola cable modem (SB6121). Plugged into the modem's Ethernet port was an Airport Extreme base station.

This provided wifi service to this small office building for more than a year.

Now there is a need for adding to that some Ethernet capability. (Yes, the Airport has Ethernet ports, but it is located high up where plugging in Ethernet cables is impractical.) So...

I added a Netgear RP614v2 router, plugged it into the modem, and plugged the Airport into the Netgear router.

Doing this killed the wifi. The Ethernet ports on the Netgear router now work, but no wifi. (Tried different ports on the Netgear, different cables; No joy. It's not the fault of the hardware.)

I've spent many hours trying to configure the router and the Airport so as to bring back wifi. I presume I'm not making the right choices.

Can someone please point out the basic important points re. IP addresses? For example, the Airport configuration page says that my choices are: 1. share the WAN fixed IP address; 2. distribute IP addresses via DHCP; 3. nothing (bridge mode). Do I want the Airport to not distribute IP addresses (bridge mode) because the router will do that? And do I need to configure the modem's WAN IP address to match the modem's IP? Or does this happen automatically?

A good reference to read about router configuration in general (IP addresses, DHCP, etc.) would be a great starting point. Suggestions?

Thanks.
Dave

Dave,
Make sure that you do not have 2 router trying to do the DHCP servers. If so they will conflict with each other. I recently upgraded my cable, Time Warner, and they replaced the dumb modem with a smart modem, SB6580. Had to go into the SB6580 and turn off DHCP service. I had been fighting this for more than a month. I found the answer on the internet by doing a goggle search for step by step instructions.

Hi Everyone

I have a problem I think with iMovie.

I have several tapes that I converted to mpg that are greyed out when I try to import to iMovie.
The only thing I can see is the one that is greyed out they are 720x480 vs 640x480.

Is there any thing hopefully free, to convert the greyed out to 640x480?

Just purchased a Samsung M2 (500 GB) harddrive for extra backups. Its supposed to be Mac-compatible [10.4.8 or higher].

As with my other drives (LaCie & Western Digital), I tried (using Disk Utility) to format the drive volume Mac OS Extended (Journaled), however it would not stay as selected.

I left no choice the new volume at the default MS-DOS (FAT) setting and loaded a bunch of audio and video files to it. I was able to play a video using the current setting.

Can I leave the default MS-DOS (FAT) setting without experiencing any future problems? If not, how can I get the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) setting to stick?

In the Disk Utility window, the left-hand box shows the drives that are recognized. Listed top is the computers own disk with the startup drive indented below. Subsequent disks (if any) are further recognized below.

Per the box at the left, two nonindented disks (Western Digital & Samsung) show them to be MS-DOS (FAT). The third (LaCie) shows Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

Does this matter?

Also per the left box, two indented volumes (on Western Digital & LaCie) show them to be Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The third (Samsung) shows the default MS-DOS (FAT).

Change the Samsung setting or just leave it?

Thanx. Oneal

The first thing to do when preparing a new drive to be a Mac-dedicated drive is to partition it.

Even if it has only one partition and you only *want* one partition.

Because the first thing you do after you select "Partition" in Disk Utility, and tell it "1 partition", is to specify "GUID Partition Map".

And then, when you go to format the partition, you WILL be able to choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
