Probably some new people who insist their way is the way everyone should behave.

I don't mind changing - if everyone is doing something the same way it might make for easier trouble-shooting. This is just the technology - it's not the artistic or business creativity/achievement. What if everyone used different keyboard arrangements - no more standard qwerty?

I tend to agree even though I grimace at the thought of re-thinking a
function that has worked seamlessly well since .. forever.

I remember when OS X was first introduced I was distressed because I
couldn't access printers through the Chooser, the AppleTalk app under
OS 9. No Chooser! What to do?

I also didn't initially understand the benefits of "Preview" which I
now find useful in so many ways.

Now if I could only get my "PaperPort" up and running ..... ;-)

Have you ever worked for a company that made every decision "by committee"? If you have, I'll bet very little got done. The companies that get things done, have a few decision makers. The good ones take input from others, but they make the decisions. If they make a mistake, they correct it, and move on.

(I have worked for a company like that, then fortunately I got a new boss that made decisions without asking the committee. Usually by the time they found out, the results were in for his region, and it was adopted for the nation wide.)

If Apple tried to satisfy each and every customer, it would be design by committee, the OS would be bloatware.

I envy the people for whom "save as" is a big issue in their life. The rest of their lives must be so nice.

Everyone is doing it the same. Same as always, if you are on the same OS version, and the person asking for help tells us what that it. Otherwise there would be no changes, improvements or otherwise.

I'm not in Lion. I'm in 6.8. The only Duplicate is in the Finder bar under Edit - trouble is it's greyed out.

The post I sent is the instructions for saving a new Pages document. For 6.8, it says to use Save - does not mention Duplicate.

If I just use the red button on the top of the Pages doc that I am typing there is a little "Do you want to save the changes you made in the document "Untitled"? - buttons - Don't Save, Cancel or Save. Then if I push Save it brings up the save screen where you title and put it somewhere. If I push Don't Save it's deleted. If I push Cancel it goes back to the page I'm creating. Actually, it would seem that's the way Pages / Mac is directing me (or something different would come up).

"Auto Save" -> "rename from the title bar"

Maybe every one will stop talking about this now ;)
