Outlook error message

I use Outlook for Mac as my mail client.
For some reason I can't figure out it has started giving me the error message below:
"The server for account "Gmail" returned the error "[AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] "Authentication failed." Your user name/password or security settings maybe incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?"
Numerous times I've entered my password, checked the box for it to be remembered in my keychain, but I am still getting the pop-up error message like every 30 seconds.
The oddest thing regarding this message is that my email is downloading to Outlook without any problem once I hit "No" and the error message box closes, the email downloads.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Thank you,
Kathy

Sounds like the servers are slow in recognizing the user/password combination. A common occurrence on many email servers.

Let's try that again without the typos.
A simple web search found 5 on the first page I opened.

Sorry, I should have phrased my original post better.
Is anybody aware of any Mac Support type or Apple related IRC channels out
there, that are currently active and attract a good amount of regular
chatters?
Thanks,
Mark

There are direct way of searching these folders (at least partially):
Method 1 - For finding settings, pref, plug-ins, etc...:
Start with a folder search so you can see the parameter line (or "Show All" from Spotlight search box).
Now on the far right of the parameters, there is a "+" symbol to add more search parameters. Click it.
This adds another line of search filters.
In the far left pull down, select "Other"
In the box that appears, scroll down to "System Files" and select this.
In the next pulldown, select "are included."
Now your search will include the most likely files in your library folders, such a preference and plug-in files.
Method 2 - Search any specific folder:
Navigate to the most likely folder (Library or System) and search inside. You can always search the "current" folder though sub-folders may still be restricted..
Method 3 - explicit syntax:
Using explicit search syntax includes restricted folders, at least sometimes. Examples
to find Archive Utility:
filename:archive
or, if the filename has spaces:
filename:"archive utility"
kind:aperture library
Note that there is a substantial pause between the indexed portion of the search and the extended search of the system files so you might not see the system files as quickly as you expect.
Cheers,
tod
