If you looked in help, you need to get close with the vocabulary you used. You need to use format, font and strike-thru, not editing and mark through. (Strike-thru doesn't work, I just tried it.) And to use strike-thru you need to use rich text and not plain text.

Don't just automatically blame it on the software.

Hi Louise,

Highlight the text to be struck-through, then go to "Fonts" and the
fonts window will open. There is a little icon with a "T" with a
strike-through; click that and you get the option of single, double or
color strike-through.

Ian

Strike-through requires that the message is converted to rich text format; but by me the double strike-through does not work. Selecting "Double" renders only "single" strike-through. I dont know why.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? Maybe something v. 10.7.4 specific?

Not all fonts have all characters. Some havebonly "normal", and notbeven bold or italic.

I don't get a double line either. Double works in Bean but not in Mail.

Ram is certainly the most likely possibility but there are LOTS of others
both software and hardware related. The good news is 'Page' almost always
equals memory.

I would run a RAM test using Rember while in safe mode or better use
bootable memtest86 (http://memtest.org/). There used to be a Mac version
but I don't think it's required any longer. Both Memtest86 and Rember are
free.

If that doesn't track it down there are lots of other possibilities that
exist including module/driver conflicts, faulty hardware, faulty corrupt
software.

Did you change, add, or remove anything around the time this started? Are
you doing something similar when it panics?

I would start with the test that are convenient to you.

Disconnect any devices that are not needed - (printers, usb everything,
etc) and if possible change out the KB & mouse.

Test the harddrive for bad sectors.

Is the computer over heating?

If you have another computer try booting from it's drive and see if problem
persist.

Hardware wise - the video card would be my next suspect but unless you have
a spare it's difficult to test but you could try benchmark or stress
testing like Cinebench.

i got my iMac with OWEs 120 GB SSD installed.
IMac starts up very fast. opening software that is installed
on SSD is instant. going to have to install PS CS6 and LR4
on it to see what that looks like.
it cost me $300 plus shipping to OWC.
a lot of money today. but, i think it is worth it.

Doug,

I think you will find PSCS6 is like lightning, especially with your SSD.

LR4 varies from one computer to the next, and even from one day to the next on some computers. The SSD helps, but so does disk read/write speed. But even having a fast processor, lots of RAM and fast hard drives isn't the total solution. I'm convinced that LR4 still has some serious coding flaws that seem to pop up for yet unknown reasons. If you hang out at all on the Adobe LR forum, you will see that some people have problems (on PCs or Macs) and some seem to cruise along. Hopefully, you are one of those people who will not have any performance issues with LR4.

I'm using LR4.1 on a Mac Pro with a 240 GB SSD for O/S and apps, a dual disk RAID 0 for data, a separate scratch drive, 8-core 2.26 GHz processor and 16 GB RAM. A lot of the time, it works fairly well, but this morning, it started dragging again. I closed and restarted LR4 and it improved.

Hope it screams for you.

Lou

it screams. installed PS CS6 on my SSD. it was already fast, now, it is fun to watch.
not sure if i am ready, or will ever need the dual disk RAID 0 for data.
but, in an earlier email, some woman, whose email i lost in the change over, mentioned a RAID arrangement that sped up LR 4.1.

thanks, Lou.

Yes, I went to Safari preferences and edited the auto fill but for some reason it does not fill in my state on forms.
