Yes, drive dock would be a better and probably more accurate term. I've seen them at Microcenter for IDE (G4 and older drives) so I assume I can find them here. I think I've even seen ones that connect to both IDE and SATA drives. Whether they were hot swappable or not I don't know.
You're shakin' my confidence Dan! I may have to hit up Pantip plaza asap!

I didn't ship the G4 as it was slow as $%@# and I was assuming that a dock for the drives would be easily available here. G4 is being re-purposed by a friend as well as a PC I'd had to buy for $50 so no landfill from my comps anyway. :)

Your mail (UTF-8) was received as alternating exclamation points;
Eric's quote of your mail (ISO-8859-1) had the dreaded  symbols (a
capital A with a circumflex accent).

I have wondered about whether this works. Do you know, Bill, if it actually DOES work in practice?

Also, Snow Leopard Server is $500 from Apple, and $400 from the single Amazon Store reseller that lists it.

You can get a used Core 2 Duo Mac Mini for about that price, and run Snow Leopard on *that*....

Yeh it works. I've used it for such. Fortunately, I got it while the supply was greater than the demand. But, for some one with a lot of PPC programs, esp pro programs or vertical programs, it may still be worth it. Upgrading or re-writing software may be a lot more expensive.

Thanks, Bill; and Chris, I always consult Google first - it returned an inconclusive mire of gobbledygook.

Howdy.

There are some references online to error -43 being connected to a
problem with plugins.

Check this Apple KB article.

I got excited for a second, Dan, but then found that I have no such plug-ins. Thanks for the tip!

I found the solution...edit com.apple.iCal.plist and add a new entry per the attached link. Worked great.

That IS interesting, so I fooled around with it.

In fact, I found that I could drag and drop back and forth among Text Edit, Mail.app, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Bean.app. I could also drag text from a web page onto any of those. And I could even drag text from any of them into a text field in GraphicConverter.

I'm sure the list could go on and on.

For some reason I now cant seem to get YouTube videos to play once I open them. All the usual buttons (such as start/pause) and the sliderbar have disappeared.

The only thing that I can do is download the videos, however that takes time. Sometimes I just want to look at something without having to download it.

Thanx. Oneal

I followed Otto's instructions and I have all the pictures on my MAC now, in the new folder I made for iPhone Pictures. Now how do I delete all the pictures from my iPhone - Camera Roll and Photo Stream, iPad the same and finally iCloud so I can finally back up my iPhone?

I appreciate the time and help. I am barely a year with my MAC with 24 years on a PC. Still trying to figure it all out.

Need Help with Spotlight Search

Posted by: "LouisD" lou@loudina.com   ldina

Wed Jun 20, 2012 7:19 am (PDT)

I have had problems with Spotlight searches lately. I can search for a file that I KNOW is in my Home folder (nested many layers deep), but Spotlight just doesn't find it. It's happened with other files too, so it is not an isolated file that I cannot locate.

I'm on OS X 10.6.8. I search my Home folder and click the "File Name" button in Finder window and it comes up blank. It is not a hidden file, and I know I didn't misspell it because I copied and pasted the file name into the Spotlight search box (I finally found it after searching manually...took awhile). Files do show up when I click the "Contents" button, but not when I search for "File Name". Unfortunately, Contents does not display the file I want.

Could it be a preference, filter, corrupted spotlight database, etc? How do I get Spotlight to find the files I want. I don't have any filters invoked (that I am aware of).

What to do?

Thanks, Lou

Never knew that existed. I downloaded it, did the enclosed "test" web page, got nothing autofilled. Then did the "reset Safari" recommended if it didn't work, tried again, got nothing autofilled.

Almost more annoying than the fact that it didn't work was the fact that the developer's "Download..." link points to a huge image that downloads the dreaded "MacKeeper" rather than the utility desired (the download link is there on the page, it's just VERY de-emphasized as compared to the download link for MacKeeper.

Ugh.
