No one may switch the phone off by simply holding down the home button.

After installing the Find Friends app, I can't see how the husband in the article could track his wife's phone after taken from her car, if someone wasn't using FF to text/email him. What am I missing here?

Find Friends has nothing to do with texting or email. You invite firends to
let you follow them and see their location they can follow you and your
location.

If you remove the sim from the iPhone and connect it to a computer with a new iTunes account won't it accept it all without a murmur of protest?

The SIM card has nothing to do with whether or not iTunes will accept an iPhone. I believe it looks at the IMEI number. That is why cellular providers, at least in North America, are looking as using that number to brick or block stolen cell phones.

Precisely. Unless the IMEI is blocked, the iPhone will be usable by a would be thief and the aps find friends and also find my phone wouldn't be useful if the thief is familiar with the modus operandi of the iPhone.

I get a lot of books from Overdrive and find its easiest to get them in Kindle version. For ePub, I use Bluefire. In both cases they show up right away.

Thanks Carol,
I was about to give up on Overdrive.
At least Bluefire Reader is allowing me to read one more book.

Ok, I missed that it appeared in the iTunes Book Library.
You still seem to have 2 or 3 problems. It won't sync to the iPad with the method you want to use, which by changing methods you might be able to do another way. Problem two is that you are getting that error message, which comes up when ever you make a big change to what you are syncing, or are running out of space. And possibly the publisher has placed a restriction on the license with Overdrive. One of my favorite authors will not allow any of his work be played on an iPod, iPad or iPhone. Go back and check at the library site and double check that for the specific book you are having problems with. I doubt this is the case since you got it into iTunes and iBooks will not work on a Mac.
What specific format did you download, epub, pdf or kindle?
And you don't want to sync is by using a Play List, why?
You have a 32GB iPad, how much available space? How much many GBs of Books (all formats) are you trying to sync to your iPad? How many total GBs of all media and data are you trying to sync to your iPad?
If you are trying syncing more media than available space and still leave some room to work, then you get that type of message.
Remember what you can see, is not obvious to me, so I have to ask questions. I have no clue, other than what you tell me to go by.
BTW, my 32 GB iPhone only has 28.3 of total available space, and there is no way I can install all of my Book Library to it. And if I turned off syncing my music to get more of my books on the iPhone, that is the message that would come up.

Looks like you found a satisfactory solution with BlueFire.

Brent,
Bluefire is only part of the solution.
I have 24.1GB free space.
Much of my problem is that when Overdrive says a book is compatible with the iPad it isn't.
Generally when I have read, or listened to, a book I remove it from the iPad.
Guess I'll check on "Sync Books" and see what happens.
After clicking on "Sync Books", Applying and Syncing, I still have 24.1GB.

iTunes & iPhone 4 OS Upgrade
Posted by: "Richard Bauer" rk911@yahoo.com rk911
Wed Jun 6, 2012 6:12 pm (PDT)
- PC is WinXP Pro SP3 with all critical updates installed
- iTunes is v 10.3.1.55
- iPhone 4 iOs 4.2.10
been holding off on the iOS upgrade but i'm now ready to do the upgrade.
questions:
- do i *need* to upgrade iTunes before the iPhone upgrade or does one have
nothing to do with the other?
- will the iTunes upgrade run and play nice with Windows XP?
thanks
