I've never used Preview to edit pdf's. I always use Acrobat Pro. Have you tried Acrobat Reader?

Forms sent from the web sometimes require the editing/reviewing to be done in a specific program. My son had to use Internet Explorer to be able to fill out a form an employer required filled in, then returned. You might ask the owner of the pdf for any required application to use to fill the pdf.

When I have run into that problem in the past, I just used a capital "X" in
the check box.
You should also check out PDFPen

My G5 Quad also suffered from very frequent kernel panics, and when l
gave up on it and went to an Intel machine, I wiped the main boot drive
clean and reinstalled Leopard 10.5.~ and all its updates and security
updates to its available max. Miraculously after that the kernel panics
disappeared. I now have a spanking clean G5-Quad available. Not sure if
it's worth selling or keeping. It was blazingly fast in its day; loaded
with RAM it never slowed. It is liquid-cooled, and I could be expecting
it to leak some time after it gets running again....

Well, Folks. I'm here to tell you that Print Artist Platinum 24, a recent version of Print Artist for Windows, is incapable of handling GFX files. This app, by the way, is a pale imitation of the Mac version of Print Artist we had a few years ago.

So, at this point, I have found no app that can do a batch conversion of GFX graphics, and the only way I am able to use them at all is with the "latest" (circa 2005) version (3.0.2.8) of Print Explosion (PE) which is mostly dysfunctional when run in 10.8. It does, however function pretty well when run in 10.4 on an olderMacBook. PE was a Nova Development product, but they don't even list it on their site anymore.

The work-around is interesting. I open a new project in PE and find the GFX graphic I want to use. You can't export a graphic from a PE project, but you can copy it to the clipboard. So that's what I do. Normally, Preview would be able to paste it from the clipboard, but not with this app, for some reason. However, Pages can copy the PE graphic from the clipboard. So I paste the PE graphic into a Pages doc, copy it back to the clipboard, and paste it into a Preview window. Now I can save it in a variety of formats suitable for use in other apps.

These are graphics that were included in/with Print Artist and Print Explosion Deluxe apps. Free is good, but I'm willing to shell out some bucks to be able to convert these graphics. BTW Graphic Converter can't handle it. I've googled the subject, but I don't seem to find what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?
