Consider that resetting the PRAM also requires rebooting the system. ;)

If it is a tray loading drive, there is a pin hole for physical ejection.
If it's slot, there is not. When you attempt ejection by any method, does the drive make noise like it's trying, or is it completely silent? If it's trying and can't, then you have a mechanical problem. You can try the methods Barry suggests. There is no direct mechanical method for ejecting discs from slot drives. If the disc gets stuck, the drive is generally hosed unless methods like Barry suggests don't work. And there is a good likelyhood you'll wreck it trying anyway.
If the disc is precious, don't use the physical method for slot drive. You may wreck the disc irreparably. You'll have to remove the drive and open it up, and you will likely destroy the drive in the process.
Cheers,
tod
P.S. Do you find it odd that we are willing to put more effort into our replies than you put into your request.

Hi,
Do the Mac users also need Word to open them?

I'm the only one in my office on a Mac and have Office for Mac 2011 so I don't have an issue opening anything.
I am not sure if Pages would open a docx file.

If I ever need to open Word documents on my Mac, they are opened in Pages. Pages allows you to save and send documents in Word format to PC users.
They will also open in one of the free applications such as Neo Office.

Dear All,
I occasionally hit the wrong key or combination of keys in Word and the letters spread themselves out. Can anyone tell me which keys I hit to make this happen? And how do I cancel this?

It sounds like when you hit the wrong key or combination of keys it is switching to "Justify Text" where it'll spread the words out to fit the margins - and putting extra spaces in each line. If that is the case you can fix it by going to: Format>Paragraph>Alignment. Then change it to Left or Center (or whatever your preference is).
Or simply use the toolbar icon and click Align Text Left.
