Activity shows the mail is going through.

Mail Connection reports connection and login to server succeeded
Don't know what any of this means.

Hi

This indicates that the connection is set up as Pop account

I would save all your current emails into a new folder (apple calls it a mailbox) and then delete the account in apple mail preferences and re-add it

Click the plus sign (lower left) add mailbox On My Mac - maybe name previous Gmail or something

Then click on the first message in your inbox, hold down the shift key and click on the last message - so now they are all highlit and under the messages drop down menu I would choose Move Messages and pick the new folder you just made

Then I would (after all the messages had moved) create one more new mail box call it previous gmail sent and I would click on your sent message folder and move all those messages

Then I would go into the preferences accounts and remove the old account and set up the new gmail account as imap
Sent from my iPhone. Some imagination reg

If you are using two devices, like a Mac and an iPad, and one of them moves or deletes an email on a IMAP account, then it might not show up on the other device.

An example, my me.com account is set up as IMAP, and my MBP has a rule to move a particular email to a folder on my MBP. That folder is not set up in my iCloud account or on my iPhone. If the MBP is connected to the internet, then I will not see it on my iPhone, because it has been moved to where the me.com mail server can not see it. Therefore it will not show on the iPhone.

I don't understand as everything worked until three days ago. I need to start again tomorrow. I changed the settings at gmail so I can read the email there until I get my Mac mail straightened out. Then the iPad will probably also need changing.
Thank you very much for your help.

Mac players play only on Mac Servers. There is no PC/Mac playing, that is why I asked this group if any of them play there. Any Mac players in this group?

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the tip - but I tried un-checking it and I think I like the
new way, particularly as I use a track pad an the movement is more
like that of a tablet - which is presumably why Apple changed it.

BTW on my version the check box is labelled "Scroll direction:
natural. Content tracks finger movement."

The "natural" says it all - my wife hated computer mice but took to
the iPad swipes immediately.

I also remember that tracker balls used on radar displays usually
moved the cursor in the same direction as the ball movement.

regards,
Ian

I agree with Jim, would be nice, but I doubt the rumor.

Dan, interesting rumors. IF Apple should extend a warranty on all devices,

great, BTW) and a couple of iPads without a significant increase in the

could add these devices for "x" more money?

Nice daydreaming, Dan, but I just don't see it happening. Hope the rumors
are true, though...(grin)...Jim

Sound something like what Apple does currently. If you buy accessories with a Mac, some accessories are covered by the AC on the Mac.

Dan, where are the rumors coming from. I still doubt it, but some source have more credence than others.

Nowadays, if you buy devices together that work together they are all covered under the same warranty. For example, you buy a Mac Mini and with it you buy a keyboard, mouse and monitor. If bought together, all are covered by the same AppleCare on the Mini for no added cost.

Obviously, I cannot read the mind of whoever put up the rumor, but I wonder if what is meant is that if you buy stuff TOGETHER it will all be covered together. For example, if you buy an iPhone and an iMac at the same time you might get a warranty price break????
