IMO File Sharing Mac-to-Mac is *really* easy. Doing it Mac-to-PC is not so
straight-forward but it can be done. Here's a guide (I don't know if Carol
has 10.7 or 10.8).

Dropbox is easy to set up but moving 10s of GB via the internet could take
a while!

Which of these two flatbed scanners would work the best with Snow Leopard OS 10.6.8, the Epson V600 or the CanoScan 9000F Mark II for slides, negatives, prints, etc.?
Thanks for your assistance.

Howdy.
Just by the specifications alone the CanoScan comes out slightly
ahead.
Here are several features to look for in a scanner:
1. Can the software included do batch scanning? You might have to
contact customer service to find out.
2 What is the Optical resolution? Not the interpolated resolution.
The optical resolution rating is what the actual scanner's hardware can
"see." The higher the better when you need to scan and then enlarge
the image.
3. Dmax rating? The higher the Dmax rating the better the scanner
should be at picking out details in dark and muddy areas of an image -
particularly film images.
4. Digital ICE is a technology that can remove dust and some scratches
during the scan - particularly from film.
I've owned and used Microtek, Umax, Linotype Hell gem series, Epson,
and Canon scanners.
Currently have a CanoScan 8800F. I like the CanoScan a lot and have
used it for 35mm slides and photograph scanning.
In particular, my experience with the Canon scanner is that Canon has
been much more responsive and faster at bringing out new scanning
drivers and software as Apple has upgraded Mac OS X to newer versions
and that Epson has been less responsive and slower at the same and in
some cases not doing any driver/software upgrades even for scanners
discontinued even a short time before the Mac OS upgrades.
Remember that depending on your version of Mac OS X and version of
Photoshop and the version of scanning software/driver you may run into
issues with TWAIN scanning from within Photoshop (using a plugin) and
may also run into issues with the conversion from 32-bit to 64-bit
application, system, and extension software.
-Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner
Optical resolution: 6400 dpi
Dmax 3.4 density rating
8.5 x 11.7 inch max read area
Digital ICE - yes
-CanoScan 9000F Mark II
9600 optical resolution for film
4800 optical resolution for other media
Dmax 3.8 density rating
8.5 x 11.7 inch max read area
Digital ICD - ?? but has feature called FARE Level 3 which seems to be
similar
Has more function buttons than the Epson

I'm looking at the Canon 9000F too but am concerned about driver support in the future.
I just gave a Canon 9900F to the Salvation Army thrift store. Drivers are not available for OS-X 10.6 and later.
About this Mac / More Info / System Report / USB showed a Canon device but no further info.

I downloaded and tried Vuescan. No luck. Sent Ed Hamrick an email and got a reply in less than a day. Vuescan requires a Canon TWAIN driver.
I did what I could with Vuescan and I liked what I saw. Will definitely get it as soon as I get a scanner - after a SSD & 10.8.

Canon might be lazy in updating their info but others might have taken more
trouble. For instance, according to Canon there is no 10.7 or 10.8 driver
for our LiDE 50, but a bit of searching told me that I should install the
LiDE 35 driver, which also works with the 50. I can now use the scanner in
10.8 using Preview and via System Preferences > Print & Scan.
