Yeah, must be! But what? Sure is not lack of RAM.

I do Randy's maintenance steps, which help for a DAY or so, then safari
continues to blow up! POS. I do not have those problems with Chrome.
Puzzle ain't it? One that simply should not be if apple were as good as
it should be!

Have you tried the things that I suggested earlier today? (See below.)

Do you have anti-virus software running?

Safari, by and large, is a very reliable program. It's fast too. Would you like me to help you troubleshoot your Safari problem?

Think about it. More RAM can only make a difference if what you have now is
not enough. "Not enough" depends on which apps you're running and what you
do with them. If System Monitor never shows more than a few MB of Page outs
then you do *not* need more RAM. My MBP has 4 GB of RAM and currently shows
352 kB (yes, kilobytes) of Page outs. Page outs only become significant
when I run something like Handbrake (video converter), but I don't use it
often enough to warrant buying more RAM. That can wait until I actually
need it *and* the price has come down. At that point I will probably also
have decided to fit an SSD ;)

How much of your RAM gets used?

Otto

Sorry, I meant *Activity* Monitor, of course.

I did talk to Best Buy last night and without any hesitation they told me to bring it in. Took it in last night and now I have the iLife Suite. Not sure what all it is or does but I have it now!

Thanks for letting me know about it and knowing that I should have it.

Is there yet a good way of doing that? I don't use a server. I'm currently using an IMAP account on Earthlink who is hosting my domain, but it isn't well supported and has a small limit so I cannot sync many of my mail boxes.

It isn't important enough to me to spend much money, but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Best,

Jim

Definitely! This group has been extremely helpful with everything I've asked. I have asked some really dumb questions - but they were things that stumped me and no one made me feel dumb for asking.

Thanks again!

I use iCloud with excellent results syncing between an iMac, Macbook Air, iPad, iPod & iPhone using five different email providers.

Hi,

I would suggest finding a better ISP, as imap is exactly what you are asking for. These days, any ISP worth its salt should give good support... Why not just sign up for a free gmail account...

I am happy with iCloud for calendar and address book but haven't tried it for mail. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Chris. Actually my ISP is Cox cable and I am happy with them. I only use EarthLink for mail because they host my mcgarvie.us domain. I'll see if Cox can do what I want but I'm not willing to change me email addy.

Best,
