Players have full control over the ball's initial placement behind the foul line, its velocity and direction on release, and left or right spin as it travels towards the pins. A regulation score sheet appears at the top of the screen and all scoring is automatic. The initial position of the ball behind the foul line is controlled by moving the ball left or right. To throw, players swipe the ball toward the pins, and the speed and direction of the swipe determines the velocity and path of the ball.

The eye and mind are drawn to the panoply of small, variously colored tiles in motion, and the goal of creating proximity (usually match-3 or more). Novae takes the classic match concept and creates a fascinating variation, where tiles do not fall down to the bottom of the screen; they fall inward, toward the screen's center. Moreover, not every grouping of four or more like-colored tiles makes a match; at least one tile in the grouping must be one of the four tiles touching the center on one of its axes.
Novae's gameboard is an empty Cartesian graph set in interstellar space. The X and Y axes are each the thickness of one tile. The 0-point of the graph is the absolute center of the gameboard, and no tile can occupy it. The four central squares, though there is no actual grid on the board, correspond to 1 and -1 on the X (horizontal) axis and 1 and -1 on the Y (vertical) axis. Tiles are dropped, one by one, at either the far left or the far right of the X-axis, or the top or bottom of the Y-axis. Once dropped, tiles fall toward O, the center grid square. As axes fill up, tiles spill out in a spiral, clockwise direction, ultimately creating a circle of tiles.
Free from time trial and other pressures, the player is free to enjoy the strategic subtleties of the game. The player can see the current and the next tile available to be dropped, which allows for thoughtful planning. Players usually have a choice of four axis endpoints to drop their tile. While a maximum of four different like-colored tile groupings can be made, the game includes tiles of five different colors (RGB and MY). As unmatchable tiles fill the board, the player is challenged to make a match that will bring an unmatchable color to one of the center squares.
"I designed the game to be Zen with no enervating gameplay," commented creator Dominique Vial. "I wanted an attractive and immersive game you can play again and again after a hard day's work or in meditative phase on the couch. A sober and soothing design to not distract the player for the main goal: play and have fun. I did not forget gamers, as there are strategies and a lot of 'tips' to improve scores: multipliers, special events, combos, etc."

The App prepares learners for music appreciation, using music software such as GarageBand, and further music instruction privately or in school.
"With the launch of Music Learning Lab, Generategy has an opportunity not only to foster the success of many budding musicians, but to demonstrate the real potential of apps in education. Our goal was not simply to make learning music fundamentals fun, but to help kids find the fun in learning and making music," said company co-founder and General Manager Russell Layng, a philosophy major at Tulane University and jazz drummer.
"Through three different sections, 'Learn,' 'Create,' and 'Play,' Music Learning Lab offers a balanced, well-rounded approach to music education."
In the Learn area, 14 lessons of increasing complexity teach foundational music skills. The Play area comprises 3 mini-games to practice and extend these skills. Rewards specific to music learning are built into the program to keep learners motivated and engaged completing lessons and levels unlocks up to 15 instruments and 9 backing bands to use in the Create area. The Create area allows learners to freely express their newly acquired skills by composing their own musical pieces, using 2 instruments, drums, and a backing band all at once. Learners can choose pitches, add longer melodies and drum patterns to their pieces, and try different instruments and backing bands. Once composed, learners can see their piece performed by an animated band.
"Traditionally, music instruction starts with concepts that are difficult to master without certain skills. We identified these necessary skills higher and lower pitch discrimination, interpreting sounds and melodies as written symbols, interpreting written symbols as sounds and designed the lessons in Music Learning Lab using methods that combine our love and knowledge of music with principles derived from basic learning sciences research," said Generategy co-founder Dr. Paul Andronis, a learning scientist who trained in classical piano for 18 years. Dr. Andronis is currently Chair of the Department of Psychology at Northern Michigan University.
