I work from home most of the time but when I am at the office I print to the copier. The default settings right now are to print 2 sided (both front and back). I need to get this to switch to print one sided (back of page is always blank). I have played with it several times and if I remember to go in and change it for each print job it will print correctly
.but how do I get it to change my default settings? It's not associated with the copier because I am the only one in the office that it is happening to.
Thanks for any help!

Just change the settings on the office printer and then save it as the default setting for that printer. Not at my Mac so I can't tell you where exactly but I know I can do it on my printer. You can also set up a different profile - I have one for B&W printing versus color printing.

I think you can do it in Presets.

Some companies have their IT department or copy machine vendor set the default to two-side for ecological reasons.

We are a small company and don't have an IT department. No one else in the office is having this issue, either.

I'm not able to access the screen from home (when NOT connected to the printer), however when I am there I can post exactly where I find it. I believe it's in Options and then I choose Xerox on the drop down menu. Once I do select the "1 sided print" how can I tell the computer to make that the default setting?
Thanks!

How do I go about telling it to set the new settings that I select as default?
Thanks!

Click on the Presets button to see if you can set it from there.

If it is PPC then yes. I JUST found the way to check if you have PPC apps or not as I'm considering going to 10.7.
"From the Apple menu, select About This Mac. In the window that opens, press the More Info button at the bottom to open the System Profiler, showing even more about your Mac. In the left-hand column (labelled 'Contents39;), open the Software list by clicking on the triangle to its left, if it's not already open.
Highlight 'Applications39; and click on the Kind column header at the top of the window to sort your apps according to their type. Intel or Universal applications run fine in Lion, but PowerPC apps must be updated or replaced; they cannot be used with the new operating system."

If you update to Word 11 you head will swim with all the additions and changes to the program; be prepared to spend some time learning how to use it as it can be counter-intuitive and you could spend a lot of time trying to find things that you have used in the past because they will be hidden in tabs and sub-menus. That said, once you know where things are the new Word is quite fun to use and very powerful

Agreed, it is a PITA to have to re-learn all the basics, but many of them still work from the keystrokes.
By going to the latest version, short of 365, you will have the longest life for your purchase.

I have a Mac Pro 2.8GHz Quad Core Xeon running 10.8.4, and I have it scheduled under the Energy System Preference to shut down at 2:30 AM every morning. Sometimes it shuts down and other times it doesn't.
Sometimes it's obvious why it didn't because iTunes won't quit, and other times everything seems normal and I can shut it down manually without changing anything once I've noticed it didn't shut down.
I think there's some sort of issue with my iPhone 5 auto syncing through WiFi. It seems to want to stay connected to iTunes, even when it's not syncing. Sometimes the Mac will sleep and not wake and require a hard reset. Sometimes I can wake it by turning off my iPhone 5 or connecting to it with the iPhone using iTeleport.
I realize there are a lot of "sometimes" in this post, but that's just the way it's happening.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening?

I'm usually good about recording passwords when creating a new account or such. Not this time.
I installed both Snow Leopard and ML on this '11 mini and I tried to boot the ML partition but can't remember the password.
So I search the 'net and find these on Apple Support's site:
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11390?viewlocale=en_US
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10924?viewlocale=en_US
There seems to be a circular logic at play here:
Option 1: "If you have an Apple ID and have associated it with your account, you can use this Apple ID to reset your password. To associate your Apple ID with your account, open System Prefs..." Need I quote any further?
Option 2: "If you want to reset your password and have File Vault turned on, you can do so if you have an Apple ID associated with your account..."
How can I reset the ML login password? Earlier versions would allow you to insert the Install Disc and reset it.
Thanks,
Dave
